Yes, ST (Singapore Technologies, I think...) might pay me yet. For I did make some suggestions like putting in a proper pair of iron sights and a bayonet lug. Some other people suggested they should make it ambidextrous for lefties. So we are making constructive criticisms.
No, I have not fired an M60. But there are enough people claiming to be former users who've denounced it. Plus the fact that the US armed forces have finally shelved it says enough about its ineffectiveness. Only some small units are still using it in the M60E3 or something version. And this is only because they've mod it to a short barrel version. -

It's just churning....plus leaking forex as much of the sub system derives from overseas. Most cases, the technology gained remains in-country and unproductive.
Increasingly there is the re-inventing of the wheel without the economy of scale.
There are some advantages when things are made locally but I think it's best left to some things only. Eg Armor plating, ammo, smart weapons and sensors.
Better they seek biz overseas (morals aside).....at least Singapore gain ...... -
