A-10s in Singapore Air Force?!

  someone told me singapore had a few A-10s... said they had them in the early stages of rsaf... i wuz like wtf?! coz the onli planes i knew in service are f16s, f5s, and a4s... can anyone confirm this?

  US arms export must be approved I think congress , so it will in public.
  
  So far I think no A-10 has been exported to anyone.

  Warthogs in RSAF colours, now that would really give bite to our airmobile forces and complement our rapid armoured brigades.But then again...Another dream.

  RSAF don't have A-10s..
  
  In the early stage, RSAF had Hawker Hunters, F-5Es, A-4 Skyhawks.
  
  BTW, A-10 can't operate well in urban environment full of high rise buildings..
  
  A-10 are designed to fly low, hit hard at column of armoured vechicles in a large open field with low height trees ( so that A-10s can turn away quickly ) before mobile AAs can react..
  
  RSAF prefer to use helicopter gunships to operate in urban environment.

  Which would be a better for ground attack? A10 or the AH-64D? Let's factor in maintenace and cost. What advantages can the Apache have over the Warthog?

  this is like comparing fish to cow...
  
  anywaes..Apaches tend to be more stealthier(not in the Radar cross section aspect) as in they can nap to the earth....pop up from behind cover...basically more mobile arh..not needing proper runways..yadayada....
  
  just basically 2 diff things arh...
  
  warthogs tend to be able to carry more (alot)ordnance...able to take horrendous damage and making it back..but generally a tank buster...

  You left out the strikemaster, Singapore use to have some of them.
  
  That is one very good and hard hitting that can take a lot of punishment close air support fighter.

  SG do not really require A-10s.What we require is AC-130 Spectre gunships which can loiter above the battlefield for hours and serve as a mobile gun platform to destroy any resistance troops on the ground may find.A-10 though good for tank-busting,may lack the needed heavy volume of fire in urban areas.

  Regards to the Spectral Gunship, it will be a viable system if air superiorty is assured......it isn't a very complex system.
  
  Am sure ST could do some modifications to our existing C130s, mounting several minigun systems and tracking stuffs...
  
  However if i am not wrong, USAF is the only user of such a system...

  The magic number is 400knots.....it seems the consensus is that the plane must be able to operate above this speed at 200ft altitude to be safe from VSHORAD or AA gunfire.
  
  This the A-10 cannot do. But going too fast also makes it difficult for the pilot to find the target especially if you are too low.
  
  The A4S on the hand is well proven platform for the CAS role. I think it only lacks the punch of the GAU-8 cannon or the Hawker Hunter's 4x 30mm Aden.
  
  So why A-10 when you already have A4S. You can fit a GAU-8 gun pod on the centre line station.

  mini guns? to small man.......they use the 30mm M61(i think) vulcan
  Which is in our F-16's.
  Either that or just use guns taken off the A4's i guess.

  I think it's 20mm Vulcan in the F-16s.
  
  At some point, RSAF did have both 30mm Adens and the 20mm M20(?) on the A4S, Hawker Hunters and F5s.
  
  Later they consolidated and removed the 30mm Adens on the A4s to the 20mm calibre.
  
  I think the army might want to relook at this:-
