Initially I tot so too, but the problem is F-15K is still not delivered to SKorea yet, for F-15C or E , I think we have seen enough , even in SG.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Perhaps this is what is needed to push our missile R&D capability, for that is one area we have not fully developed yet.Anyway, I still believe that we will go for commonality and not try and introduce a spanner into the works , after all, it'll be an interim NGF.And less public hype might be better, after all, we have also seen more F-15s flying in formation with our Vipers than any other candidate.Ruling out the issue of normal training is very possible, when you cast your mind back to the French Defence Minister's visit to Singapore and how she urged us to get the Rafale. In diplo-speak, urge is a very strong word, and it's close to desperation.Add in the rumours/news leak of RSAF having a training detachment in Korea and the picture becomes quite clear all of a suden.
It has started already for the testingOriginally posted by gary1910:Initially I tot so too, but the problem is F-15K is still not delivered to SKorea yet, for F-15C or E , I think we have seen enough , even in SG.
And said the hubby is at Sth KoreaOriginally posted by LazerLordz:The Korean Air Show was held around the same time as the announcement in the papers about Zoe Tay's birth. At the same time, Boeing put out a news release saying that the first F-15K has been delivered in time for the Air Show, if I recall correctly.
Well, based on this report, the first F-15K just flew in US just a few days ago, so no way there is any F-15K in SK.Originally posted by LazerLordz:The Korean Air Show was held around the same time as the announcement in the papers about Zoe Tay's birth. At the same time, Boeing put out a news release saying that the first F-15K has been delivered in time for the Air Show, if I recall correctly.
Was it Zoe Tay or the media.I think its the latter and the signs are getting clearer. The French seldom send their Defence Minister out on a salesgirl job, not to forget its a commercial sale , not government to government. The Rafale was on the market for so long but failed to get a single buyer.Originally posted by spencer99:Frankly I think that Zoe Tay and initiated a security leak..... she can plainly say that her husband is "overseas" without going into details.
I find it strange that the Frenchie minister make a desperate pitch... they must have known that the Rafale bid is in trouble....
The thing about the Raf and the EF is that other then the founding partners, there is no record of successful sale or service elsewhere......
The F15 is "proven" and I have afeeling they will go for the F15. mainly because it would represent the most risk free solution for the RSAF. It is a proven platform.... nothing revolutionary about it but it is proven.
Look at the naval heli competition, we went for the S-70 which is a proven platform.
If we get the Rafale or Typhoon, IMHO we are selling ourselves short because we will be pitting a multi-role fighter against a air superiority intereceptor like the Sukhoi. That is like taking one step forward in terms of new technology but two steps back in capability. The F-15 is more versatile and in any case, has a better reign in the air and vertical climbs than its two competitors.Originally posted by SpecOps87:F-15 may be so frequently pushed as it is combat aircraft with a proven track record. However, foreign sales of the F15 is also bolstered by the US Military itself.I mean, look at Israel, simple things like their small arms the Galil,Tar-21,Magev etc. all do not have a market of their own even in their own country as the US is actively contributing military aid which can only be used to purchase American equipment to Israel, thus explaining why they have so much American equipment. Also,it must be realised that there can be political advantages if we buy the F-15,although its way past its era.
And we must also note Singapore's position in ASEAN,we have one of the most advance and capable airforce in the region. And I belief that no Air Force in the region possess a major piece of equipment like the F15 which is deemed as an Air-Superiority Fighter.By getting it,we may accidentally trigger an arms race which is not exactly healthy...although I really wonder what type of aircraft countries like Indonesia can get.So perhaps it would affect our Northern friends, making them go into a fighter buying frenzy as well.In recent years especially, they have been responding well to purchase of Russian aviation technology like the SU-30 etc...
Thus its perhaps more wise for the RSAF to consider the Rafale and Typhoon.Although both are relatively untested, its new technology compared with the F15.
Nope... SIA main fleet is BoeingOriginally posted by LazerLordz:Was it Zoe Tay or the media.I think its the latter and the signs are getting clearer. The French seldom send their Defence Minister out on a salesgirl job, not to forget its a commercial sale , not government to government. The Rafale was on the market for so long but failed to get a single buyer.
We gave Airbus our commercial plane market, I think Boeing will get our military business.
Well, French made technology inflicted some pretty deep scars on the British Task Force in the South Atlantic, 1982...Originally posted by tvdog:Erm... don't know about the French.
Yes, the Mirage was very famous but what else?
I kinda like the Eurotyphoon because its predecessor the Tornado was a pretty awesome aircraft.
High RCS would enable an enemy aircraft with lower RCS and equivalent radar to achieve a first look (and probably first shoot) advantage over a higher RCS aircraft, hence it is a major factor in BVR engagementsOriginally posted by LazerLordz:High RCS but that is not the only factor in an air war.Tactics and network warfare and BVR engagement are other factors which favor us.RAM paint cna help to alleviate. We are not fighting Russia or China, and the F-15T Strike Eagle is already an offensive weapon in this region. Our strength is our logistics and maintenance quality.
Tornado as a "Flying Coffin" is probably the opinion of the very few.Originally posted by zoik:Well, French made technology inflicted some pretty deep scars on the British Task Force in the South Atlantic, 1982...
CIWS system manufacturers had a massive sales boost after those experiences..
Panavia Tornado? i knew someone who flew them in Desert Storm..
Their other nickname is the 'Flying Coffin'...
This is hardly surprising... since the F15 is a 1970s figther where stealth and RCS is not a factor.Originally posted by suntze:The preferred strategy is presumably to avoid air engagement when destroying the opposing assets. Failing that, if engagement is unavoidable, then preference is to do so at bvr with C4ISR providing superior knowledge of battle space. In both cases, low RCS gives an important edge.
Discussion about RCS values is rather speculative since these are highly classified and even disguised during exercises. RCS technologies are classified and may not even be exported outside the country of origin.
There is a lot of guesswork regarding the values of RCS for the 3 short-listed contenders. From what I gather elsewhere, the RCS of the Rafale and the EFA may be order of magnitude less than that of the F15.
No point spending too much on a system that is not true stealth.Play with EW.After all, we are supposed to be front-runners in this field.Originally posted by Warren Buffet:If you cannot go down to noise floor.......bring the noise floor to you!
I think the Israelis is playing the latter with their ECM technology. Then there are decoys as well......
Just a side note;Originally posted by zoik:Their other nickname is the 'Flying Coffin'...
i dont think there is an overwhelming number of f15 supporters...Originally posted by barkebark:anyway i was tinking... y do we really nid to get a new fighter? and from e topic... seems like supporters for e eagle is overwhelming....hw abt e f22 then... definitely can last us a long way...
or hw abt getting sum power bombers? f117? haha...
