Cat Status(lightning risk update)

I am wondering where did the SAF gets its Cat status info from? Met services? Another question is are there any more Cat status besides the most popular Cat1? Thanks

not sure, ithink they use amber yellow amber green for diff weather conditions.

There is a phone number to call to check the CAT Status.
It will give a computerised read-out of the sectors and their status within a certain time frame. -
Yes the ability to call for Cat status is so convienent now. We used to bring along signal sets which continuously broadcast the Cat status,very troublesome and noisy.

There's Cat 1,2,3 so far i experienced.
Cat 1 being high risk lightning strike;
Cat 2 being mild to no lightning risk;
Cat 3 being fair and clear weather (but funny thing is it was raining when i checked with Met. serv about the weather over mi camp) -
There was a time when i was still a TCC trainee,we were having tank Lima Foxtrot. It started to rain very heavily so we were told to cease fire and go to the nearby training shed for a while by our instructors. The WSM sort of told us to continue after a while fearing that the day shoot would drag for too long. He said that the Cat status is not Cat 1.The CO happens to be around at the moment so he said that it is obviously Cat 1 so we cease fire until the rain becomes acceptablily light. This taught me that the Cat status system is not totally flawless and we as commanders must learn to exercise our personal judgement.
