half of the stuff is useless
with the new LBV, the full pack should take into account the waterbag that is behind, as well as heat dissipation issues.Originally posted by Joshua1975:SAF had change the SBO, and i think it time to have a better back pack. More so to replace with those pack with back support like the ALICE Pack.
Only few selected are issused with these.

those who had used the Alice Pack know very well that that the waterbag (reservoir) is well position with the frame design, the rear belt support area give kinda space and had a comfy feel as air is able to ventilate within..Originally posted by wuming78:with the new LBV, the full pack should take into account the waterbag that is behind, as well as heat dissipation issues.
Hmm...for me, I usually practice "last things, first in." So usually, I put my spare No. 4 and socks into the ALICE pack first...jacket on top of that..since I'm the signaller, I got my dumb signal set, together with 2-3 spare batteries also...I usually tear up up combat rations and distribute it to the sides of the ruck, with maybe two packets of rice, some biscuits, and fruit bars in the front pocket. I usually put another 2-3 canteens in my ALICE ruck...usually with the top few items, like poncho, groundsheet, hammock, I remember having the rifle cleaning kit in my left pocket. Foot powder, toothbrush/toothpaste, camo facekit in the right pocket. oh yes...and my chewing tobacco/cigarettes in the left pocket too...together with the rifle cleaning kit..Originally posted by Joshua1975:
something just cross my mind, how did you guys pack you back pack ie to say how you put your stuff in?
anyone teach you how to pack and arrange the stuff inside? this are the small stuff which lots of people (i mean most SGT's) who over look it. I had seen many soldier who want to take ONE item from the pack and he just empty the whole thing because the item he want is right under the pack...![]()

And this is what 'thinking soldier' SAF had come up with. I believed even till today no one (the PL SGT) care to tell his soldier at all.![]()
there is 3 diff size... i think the M size is ok.Originally posted by Shotgun:Its about bloody time they get rid of those field packs already lar. BUT those alice packs looks too big... Not good. They will end up making us put more useless stuff in. Should just contract deuter to design some camelback integrated field pack thats not too big.
Oh, anybody knows how much they are selling those US Army LBEs? Feel like buying it... haha
Don't know what they issue ALICE packs for these days, but they were bad news in my time, because it meant that you were going to be humping 45 kg of crap in the middle of nowhere for a couple of weeks.Originally posted by Shotgun:Its about bloody time they get rid of those field packs already lar. Nah, the frame's not that heavy - it's only aluminium. In any case, that pack's a b!tch to lug around without the frame. One of my signallers decided to undo his 20-foot line when he jumped, so when he released his ALICE pack at 200 feet, it went splat. The signal set was fine because the frame took all the impact, but the unlucky sod had to lug the pack sans frame for the rest of the mission, and he decidedly did not have a good time.Originally posted by schrecklichkeit:realx lah when u get to unit.. you won't be made to put in your pt shoes liao... unless u really very sway..
when i was scout i was issued alice pack.. to put the fuking hhti (some bulky thermal imaging machine)
it was good.. to me the shoulder pads make less pressure so more comfy.. even though the metal frame adds 1kg...
