Did you read the whole story and the disputed facts? Quite interesting isn't it?Originally posted by Dr Who:http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:Lc0oEHxQOB8J:www.malaysia.net/dap/lks0435.htm++new+straits+times++general+zaini+single&hl=en
Malaysian Generals exercise much initiative. They lead from the front.
One general personally faced the M-16 of the JI enemy and captured him in July 2000.
(see http above)
Do you think Spore general-scholar will do this, or will he seek "instructions" ?
( or worse, command his NS foot soldier to "charge" while himself take cover behind..)
What do you think?
Yap very true. Or else, try comparing the pay scale with the united states? hahahaa it was known that if you are a SOF in US, 6 years of pay can last u for 6 years in Singapore...hahaOriginally posted by Rockhound:aiyah...life in singapore more ex....tats y they have to make the pay on par with private sector.......
wat the malaysian soldiers get each month is pretty reasonable with the cost of living over there.....
The reason Royal titles are used is that Malaysia practices Constitutional Monarchy. Even b4 the British came, the malay states were governed by monarchs...tradition u see....Originally posted by specfore:From the orbat ... it appears to me that they still retain the British influence ( e.g. Royal something.... and also the way they name their regiments).
Well, I heard of this too from someone else who heard them from another guy so its bloody hearsay!Originally posted by Dr Who:Unofficial history (true ?):
In the 80s , some Filipino pirates raided a town in Sabah. The Malaysians quietly followed the pirates back to their home base. The MAF then landed quietly and shot up the whole island. All wew killed including women and children. All the bodies were disposed off. When the filipino officials investigated, there we no witnesses.
Peace reigned in the area.......for 20 years until the Abu sayaf gang emerged...lets see if the ASG gets their backsides shot away.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Except that the chances of the forces losing a good chief is higher, and you don't see the entire Wehrmacht led by a whole bunch of Rommels right?Originally posted by khyron1:Well I think the General is not off for some personal glory..he was there to negotiate with the 'criminals'. That incident is more of a 'spur of the moment'-type scenario.
O/T! What's wrong with a general who leads from the front? Rommel did it!
