Flying Tank

  The Soviets/Russians have always wanted an aircraft which can be a flying tank therefore they designed their Hind Helicopters to be as powerful as tanks and even have troop carry capability. But guys you have to see this pic to truly understand their passion about flying tanks!

  its a plastic model - as the description reads - someone stuck together a model of a T-34 [ww2 soviet tank] ona Sukhoi su-25 'Frogfoot' ground attack aircraft.
  
  The soviets/russians have been fond of 'flying tanks' for years - the il-2 Sturmovik produced in ww2 was a 'flying tank' that was designed for 'tank busting'.
  The heavy weight Mil Mi24 series Hind was also dubbed the 'flying tank'.
  
  The soviet equivalent of the US's 'tank buster' A-10 thunderbolt 2, is the Su-25 'Frogfoot', also known as a flying tank.
  
  Half of whats on that website are just mock-ups or 'artists interpretations'.

  Inflatable tanks - like other inflatable objects, have been around for decades - even world war 1 iirc.
  
  With the advent of IR and Heat sensitive intel gathering equipment, theyve added low-power heat emitters to them now so they dont show up as cold on sensors.
  
  The Bosnian Serbs / Serb / Jugoslavian Federal army used these to great effect when NATO carried out strikes in the Balkans - where NATO thought they were getting 98% hits on all targets, when the pull out from Kosovo etc began, all the armoured units NATO thought theyd hit pulled from their positions and went home intact. The kills that NATO thought they had, for the most part, were decoys, much like the tank above.
