Some people on other forums speculate that the shooting was from a tank co-axial MG.
I think it is M16, probably scope-equipped and the shots are from more than one firer.
If it is 7.62 co-axial his head would probably be even less intact. -
I believe it's a M-16 and it should be high velocity rounds which UN has been trying very hard to ban this type of ammunition. Imagine if he's hit by 0.5 MG....think he would have been cut into half..

The effects of 5.56 can be quite gory... heck getting hit by almost any round would be...

oh well it is abit dumb to present people with such a target in the middle of the street and not expect them to shoot back..

There was another video - shown from a front angle, in a different forum (can't remember which one). Supposed to be a hit from a 5.56 SAW.
Really stupid to stand in the middle of the street firing a RPG. -

its not only the exit wound - you should check out the results of the rounds [designed] tumbling inside that creates cavities [larger than exit wounds] and grinds it up into mush..
contrary to movies, being hit by bullets is a very bad thing..
sometimes body armous canbe bad - think of when the round has had enough energy to propel itself from the front, enters the body, but hasnt enough energy to go through the other plate? it bounces around like some pea in a tin can in between the two plates.. ouch. -
Watch the video of the shooting in slow motion, you'll be able to see that the shooter who cap the RGP shooter had 1 of his shot hit the road surface before hitting the skull of the RPG shooter. Clearly its a 5.56 round that hit the taget, 7.62 would have gone through his head. A 0.50 cal would have bust the targets head( there are plenty of pictures showing a head shot with a .50 ).
I assuming that the 5.56 shooter was at an extreme range without scope, he was estimating his shots by firing as many rounds as close as possible to the target & luck was on his side when that 1 round bounce off the road surface & hit the target. -
the 5.56 mm ammo that is use in the US is differnt from the 5.56 SIngapore uses ! they use the M855 which is a 62 grain ammunition over the old stuff we are using in the M16S1 which is the 55 grain M193. OUr M16 will not stabalized the M855 becasue of the 1:12 twist barrel compared to the 1:7 which the US use now!
Also! the Spec ops is using the MOd 262 mod 0 which is a 77 grain bullet! gives them a lot of knock down power beyonf 500 yds!

We were shooting the M855 or the SS109 ammo on the old M1 steel helmet and it will penetrate at 400 yds front and back ! the 55 grain M193 will only ding it at 400 yds!( no penetration at all)!
