i guess the israelis built them tanks to protect and perform. the americans, more of a political product than an army's weapon. my view.Originally posted by tvdog:Seriously sloping armour on both the hull and the turret just makes so much sense to help defeat projectiles.
Wonder why so few modern MBT are built like that?
The Abrams turret have somewhat flatter vertical sides. I'm sure the Abrams have thicker, more fancy armour than the Merkava. But the Abrams is a huge tank and a huge fuel guzzler. I feel the Israelis must know a little bit more about modern tank design than the Americans since they have fought more tank battles in recent times than anyone else has on this planet.

On sloping armour, why aren't the sides (besides the turret) sloping as well? Because it will make the tank wider than it is?Originally posted by tvdog:Seriously sloping armour on both the hull and the turret just makes so much sense to help defeat projectiles.

If anybody in this region were to use this tank, it will be SAF.Originally posted by lwflee:Yes, its a pretty intimidating tank... If i saw that in war, i would probably cream or shi t pants, depending on who the tank belongs to.
If there is anti tank missile fired at it towards it's back, it would hit these stuff and explode there instead of the vulnerable joint between the turret and chassis.Originally posted by +Alucard+:Does anyone knows wat those chain with ball baring located behind the turret are for? does it protect the tanks or a lucky charm? dunno how mk4 perform over mk3 baz. hope i can drive one of these which is impossible.
