I think the chances of RSAF getting the F-15T is higher than that of the Rafale.
Reasons:
1.The weapons which is already in our inventory can be used on the F-15T as well as the F-16C/D.This will lessen the burden on logistics.
2. The model which we will be getting is the most advanced version. Even the USAF does not have this.
3. It is in our intrest to keep the US military in this region as seen in the building of berths large enough for aircraft carriers in CNB. One way to keep them here is to buy their products.
4.This will enable both the USAF and RSAF to be more interoperateable as we have the same platform and weapons.
However, personally i will prefer the Rafale as the French is more willing to transfer technology as compared to the US. We can use the existing facilities in France which we are currently using for training the A-4S pilots.

Got. The Harrier. But I think the F-15 holds the record for climbing fastest to 10 000ft. The F-15 also holds the distinction of shooting Foxbats down, despite that the Foxbat has top-speed of M3+. Im not sure if you have heard of this news from Israel. In September 2004, two Israeli F-16 shot down two Syrian Mig 29 over the Mediterrenean Sea. It was hushed up until this year. Both Syrian pilots are rescued which prove that Russian ejection seats do work! The first F-16 shot down the Mig with a Aim-9 while the other one used a Python 4.
This seems like a very very possible scenario involving RSAF and RMAF. Hope that the outcome is duplicated as well, -

I really, really wanted the Eurofighter, but now since it's out of the running, I choose the F-15T. Somehow I trust the Yanks a little bit more than I trust the French.

I think S'pore would amost definitely take the F-15T, because of poilitical connections(this exisits, like it or not) and weapons/systems interoperability.
Possible but still many factors to consider. RMAF's MIG-29Ns are much more advanced than Syria's and there is also the quality of pilots. I don't think Syrian pilots have adequate training sorties on their planes due to budget problems. Also, the tatics employed and weapons/avionics of both types of planes also plays a part. Furthermore, I would be inclined to believe that the Israeli F-16s were not alone, most likely they had an AWACS nearby which directed the attacks.Originally posted by zquek:Hi guys,

It all boils down to the 3 Ps:
Price - Rafale cheaper
Politics - America/Boeing has stronger political power
Performance - Depends on what RSAF needs (?)
I prefer Rafale. Though it hasn't been battle-tested like F-15, it is a pretty good fighter on paper. Plus RSAF already has US-made F5s and F16s, time to diversify to new sources. -

F-15, singapore has been one of boeing's biggest customer, we want to keep it that way. Be it commercial jets or fighter planes. Mayb we can get discount?
