Encryption is part and parcel of the internet age and why should we be surprise that it is ubiquitious in diplomatic and military traffic? Encryption...powerful stuff...well i don't noe how the Singapore Missions communicate, but i do belive if they want to send classified data back to singapore. certain encryption procedures is flowed. could be a public key encryption algorithm taliored to the needs of the Singapore Government.
Cracking such code is possible but i think by time we know the contents its a few hundred yrs later. Anyone who has did basic network security subjects in poly or uni should noe the amt of computational power needed to deciper the text.
And ppl from MIT and Stanford are researching into new ways of data representation in base 16 and 32 bits. As our world is still using binary as our basic data representation

Anyway as a footnote to one of the earlier posts in which NSA and NRO is stated to used encryption, I think the author was trying to point out the chief SIGINT and IMINT agencies of the US which needs a slight correction. NRO is just a satellite operator that operates the satellites for the national intelligence agencies and does not have real analytical capabilities. The SIGINT data is analysed by NSA while the IMINT data is analysed by NGA (National Geospatial Intelligence Agency). -
Sorry but i don't understand why would the Soviet be interested in conducting espionage in tiny Singapore. What useful information could they get out of Singapore?
