Operation Jaywick was one of the most daring and celebrated special operations undertaken in World War II. In September 1943, eleven Australian and four British army and navy personnel raided Japanese shipping in Singapore harbour, sinking seven ships and, against great odds, made it back to Australia.

I wonder if the JI bastards will follow Ops Jaywick and use it as an inspiration.........I also wonder why SAF don't teach about this Ops.....too dangerous for evil minds?

What make you think this is not taught in the SAF. Can tell you that you are wrong. !

Well, JI may not have the capability to pull off something like that.....yet. But AQ did. Remember the attack on the USS Cole in Yemen in Oct 2000?

My two cents worth.

Jaywick was not worth the material cost to bomb 7 ships. Maybe psychological impact for public wanting to 'hit back' at the then invincible japanese machine was there but at what impact to military effectiveness?

Al-K threat has been 'wargamed' and the recent Police Coast Guard coop with Navy boarding vessels and monitoring of small craft is proof enuff. Greater threat is to passing ULCC in Malacca straits, two steps more sophistication in execution compared to Op Jaywick is my guess.

Ops Jaywick did scare the shiit out of the japs, otherwise they would not have executed the commandos of Jaywick 2 ( Rimau) in Clementi-Bukit Batok just before the end of WW2.

There is nothing to stop JI from staging similar ops from Indon islands. Don't have to be spectacular to scare away tourists, investors and business confidence.....in fact, I am more afraid of the Kopasus jokers than JI.....
