my coy's officers were bay safety for our Bn Live Firing excerciseOriginally posted by tvdog:Live fire M-16 without earplugs is already very deafening. I once forgot my earplugs and after just the first target I was practicallly deaf.
I threw a handgrenade during BMT and that was pretty damn loud.
I don't know if in war time we'd be wearing earplugs or not. Even at outdoor range it is so deafening can you imagine in FIBUA?
I was once near a M113 firing blanks from the .50 at Sungei Gedong and I thought that was pretty noisy. The M113 itself was pretty noisy engine and tracks sounds etc.
Of course the howitzers are the king of noise but even so-called "recoiless" rifles are very loud.
During battalion live fire the people to avoid are the 84mm RR guys. That is one loud SOB. The ground shakes when that thing fire. I pity the 84 guys.
And the the worst is the now obsolete 106mm RR used to be mounted on jeeps. I saw one live fire demo on video and it looked like the jeep jumped up when the gun fired and there was a big backblast of dust. I imagine the noise must be tremendous.
That damned BTID cost thousands to replace and tracking their movements while in repair made me a pretty pissed Armt Spec.Once, I found that the circuit board was loose and you could hear rattling when it was shook.Originally posted by Moonstriker:yeap.
Love to test the BTID
