UPDATE ON DEATH OF A REGULAR SERVICEMAN
2SG Ong Jia Hui, a 24 year old regular Army specialist, was discovered missing at about 1740hrs on 15 Jun 05 while undergoing special operations training in the waters of Changi Naval Base. A safety diver, who was on standby as part of the safety precautions put in place for such training, was immediately activated. The diver found 2SG Ong at around 1745hrs. He was given immediate medical treatment at the Changi Naval Base medical centre before being evacuated to Changi General Hospital at about 1810hrs. He was pronounced dead at 1859hrs.
MINDEF and the Army extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late 2SG Ong Jia Hui, and will be assisting the family in their time of loss. MINDEF is investigating the incident

A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman, Second Warrant Officer (2WO) Teh Kok Lian, 39, collapsed during a routine run in Jurong Camp on 22 Jun 05 at 8.45am. He was given immediate medical attention by the medics on site and evacuated to National University Hospital at about 9am. He passed away at 9.40am.
MINDEF and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late 2WO Teh and will be assisting the family in their time of loss. MINDEF is conducting an investigation. -

Its always sad to have a fellow brother die during peace time training.

Tot they r supposed to have a FFI check up after age of 35....to certify they r fit for IPPT...if they r not fit...not supposed to take part in strenous activities...but well...also experience one warrant officer Loke Meng from the navy died during 2.4 km run...he was exceptionally fit guy...run n swim everyday....but heard from his colleague that he had a heart problem...dun know if it's the same for this recent death...

i was from hq 3 discom too but that was quite long ago,never saw him b4.but life there is quite idle,so did he do some warm up b4 jogging?
my fren there only do jogging when ippt coming and for maybe a short distance only.they never warm up,they are alive lah.what i mean is u need to warm up mah if not ur body may not take it and consider he is 39 yrs old.so how far did he actually ran b4 collapes? -

seems like there are more and more deaths occuring during or after exercise.
