The new helmet used by those elite PLA troops like below marine unit is called [b]QGF03
Based on the data released on China's internet source, the performance in many aspects is better than the US Kevlar PASGT Helmet. Like the V50 value of QGF03 is 630m/s, surpassing the 609 m/s of PASGT's.
As a matter of Fact, china produced body armour actually is exported hotly like their textile products, like the new Iraqi army is among their customers:

No, i don't think the steel material commonly used for helmet will achieve such a high V50 at a acceptable thickness.Originally posted by Si Geena:The requirement spec is higher but that doesn't say the type of material used. China produced body armour is hotly exported because of one singular value; Price.

No, I hate such saying, the life is priceless, don't think it's like selling T-shirt...Originally posted by Si Geena:China produced body armour is hotly exported because of one singular value; Price.
I agree with you on that. But what I meant, was that China's cost of production is much lower than most traditional places of manufacture. And these costs certainly mean lower price.Originally posted by 38Ž:No, I hate such saying, the life is priceless, don't think it's like selling T-shirt...![]()
I don't think the PASGT is 1.5 kg. I've looked at some figures. The local helmet is rated at V50 442m/s and weighs about 1.25kg. They put in quite a bit of junk in there to stiffen it up... Thanks for the head's up of the QGF02 weight. It makes comparison more fruitful.Originally posted by 38Ž:As a matter of fact, the early version QGF02 PLA helmet is already start using non-metallic materials, the weight of QGF02 is 1.25kg compared to at least 1.5 kg of PASGT. I don't have the QGF03's figure in hand, but since it's made of nylon reinforeced resin/fibre glass/ aramid fiber mixture, it'll not be very heavy.
OMG, see how close the local helmet's specification with that of QGF02, the V50 and the weight are the same!!Originally posted by Si Geena:... Interesting Note:
Bribing is a common in all aspect of life in China and PLA is no different. But I'm sure ppl from SG will find this incredulous: While in SG some parents find ways to help their sons dodge enlistment, in China some parents pay a bribe to help make sure their sons get enlisted by the PLA or Armed Police.
I presume you have never been to China. But surprisingly what you said is remarkably true. I've lived in Shanghai for over 4 years.Originally posted by lionnoisy:I think only those from poor country family are very eager to send
boys to PLA.Most of the Chinese(I think over 70%) still live in
country with low living standard.
2 hours drive from the properous and beautiful cities like Shanghai
or Beijing will lead u from a first world city to a 1950's Singapore.[b]
Dunt trust me.

I read a article from a STRAFOR report saying that by the year 2015++, china will be disintegrated into different provinces. The peak of china power will be in 2008 when it hold the Olympics and 2010 when it hold the world trade event in shanghai, then due to the different income level and farmers protest,Originally posted by Weirdo80:US vs China....that will be a battle I'd like to see!
