Malaysia Chooses Astronauts to send to space!

This is not a joke, so please stop laughing already.
They are really serious about going to space.
They are also serious about making their astronauts wear batik, eat roti canai.
But apparently, they are still trying to figure out the direction to pray.
Okay, the serious part is over.

What's the point of borrowing spacecraft from other pple just to send your people into space?
They don't even possess the technology.
Think it will do more harm to their image then good.
The first chinese made it into space long ago liao.
at least they built it based on russian design on their homeground.

I heard from my m'sian friends they intend to be the first to introduce freeze dried malaysian cuisine. Like when an italian astronaut brought up freeze dried bolognaise.

Malaysia Boleh. Boleh do everything...but never mentioned how they gonna do it.. but BOLEH do it. Thats the mentality we got..so if it means using others to advance ourselves ..so be it. coz we BOLEH.. ha ha ! Maybe doing research of space parts for Proton.. or introducing oil palm Bio-Oil for the NASA space craft..

Note that Malaysia only mentioned sending an astronaut into space; they said nothing about getting him back to Earth safely.

Maybe NASA just needs garbagemen to help keep shuttles clean. -
probably going to hitch a ride with the russians,
as much as they like to do all this kind of "show show" stuff, (like the petronas tower, and "potong" cars for instance), building their own rocket would be way way beyond them, even if the russians sell them a complete set of blueprints for everything ....
but let's congratulate them ..... every single taxpayer ringgit they spend on such things will mean a ringgit less on something else that'll really compete with us .....
thank god our goverment has got both feet firmly on the ground ... and doesn't succumb to such meaningless showmanship, let's hope they spend more on such balls scratching exercises ! ....

I believe it was part of the deal during the sales of Mig-29s where the goondu Dr M asked the Russian for a Malaysian to be trained and send to space.
Of course they dun have the technology and knowhow for space technology, afterall they dun even have a indigenous rifle , let alone space rocket!!!!
One thing , Malaysians are very easy brainwashed by their govt so to make themselves feel good and shout "Malaysia boleh"!!!!
If you see some naive postings by some Malaysians in other forums, believeing that MAF after some of their recent weapons acquistion, thinking that MAF is the most sophisticated armed forces in SEA!!!
But when they are shown the orbat of SG, Thailand , Indonesia and Vietnam etc, they realised that MAF is actually quite pathetic small as compare with those nations since 80s and will continue to be so even after 2010!!!! -
An other gimmick for the slogan "Malaysia Boleh". The Malaysian gov will spend tons of $$ to put one representive bumiputra into the earth obital, perhaps that entire package would include a broadcast for the prayer sections to worldwide, just to tell how technological savvy Malaysia is and how it can be a role model for the Muslim world.
I am quite sure that Malaysia will make sure if this opporunity to do tons of publicity and get their national agenda moving:
1) Boast the image of the Malaysia Gov and inspire the malaysians in their country esp the bumiputra; they will need the political ammo to shoot the Isamlic Party.
2) Boast the nation image after the inflow of oil money
3) Boast malaysia as a choice for the Isamlic funds and investors.
4) Let the other SE Asian see and appreciate the greatness of malaysia; targeted audiences are PM Th*ks*n, President Y***** and PM L*L, end enhance her role as a regional power?? -
Just hope that the bumi don't pull / push the wrong buttom, and send the Russian spacecraft plunge back to earth.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) – After sending its first astronaut into orbit two years from now, Malaysia is hoping for a giant leap forward that will land one of its citizens set on the moon by 2020, news reports said Sunday.
Malaysia plans to send an astronaut aloft in October 2007 aboard a Russian spacecraft. That mission will be the first step toward the moon landing, Science and Technology Minister Jamaludin Jarjis was quoted as saying by The Sunday Star newspaper.
“We have to send several astronauts into space first before we can send one to the moon,” he was quoted in another newspaper, the New Sunday Times, as saying.
The agreement with Russia to put a Malaysian into space was part of a deal to sell the Southeast Asian nation 18 Sukhoi military jets.
A total of 984 candidates had been shortlisted from 11,275 Malaysians who had applied to go into space. Physical tests will be conducted to select eight candidates for an eight-month training program in Russia, after which a final candidate will be chosen

So why are they going to moon?
1) To lead the daily prayers from the moon?
2) To put a malaysian flag and proclaim it as a holy place
3) To shoot a spycam there, so that they can check on us?? -
They just think if a MY is on moon,MY is a developed or First World country.

Recently.the MB of Johor said the crime rates in Johor is lower than Sg.
What He said is 100% correct,just compared by figures.

We tiny less advanced Sg just use the money to encourage couples go to bed earlier(Darling,let's try one more time tonite for baby bonus),send $1 million PhD overseas,or help the poor and aged,to develop the light tank or sub. -
