Are the NGF or NFPR program specially launch to counter the Su-30MKM?
Sorry me a bit confuse.. if the new aircraft's role is to counter the Su-30MKM then what will be roles of the 60 vipers? -

The SU30s can be taken care of by the Blk52+ with BVR weaponry, possibly directed by the AESA on the Eagles. -

havent posted in this forums since like last year i think... came back to see the response to the F-15 news... saw it in the papers...
very very saddening.....
i was hoping for the rafale from the very beginning...
those who say look at the inside of the F-15... any info on how the F-15 will perform in tmr's world? just wanna know more... not been following for awhile...
haiz.... i mean, i know now military force probably mostly for show and demo only rather than any real fighting... but still... dun have to go for some old air frame....

Watched a documentry on discovery channel just not long ago... can't remember the title... but cover lots of modern aircrafts..
I remember it still name F-15 as one of the most advance aircraft in the world. -

let's get off the case of the F-15Ts and welcome it into the RSAF stable huh ....
reading the threads above, it seems like there are plenty of detractors for the F-15Ts ... but i'm sure it's a thoroughly thought out decision huh ... everyone knows what the chaps up north have .... (and even, the chaps to our south) ... and then there's the swarms of flankers and J-10s that the big big bully far up north will be sending down to the spratlys when they run out of oil ... so to buy F-15Ts inspite of everything "experts" say ... i think that's saying something ...

Well, someone said this in the 1950's and it cumulated to the F4 Phantom... all bristling with Missiles and no guns.. the pilots lost their dog-fighting abilities and became missile drivers... 2) The F-15T though 3G design of the 70's, but come with 4G/5G electronics suite, so as long as you see you enemy first, first the hightech missile and then ran away is the new rule of thumb. Dog fights will always be encountered and the pilots had to be well trained in this classic skill... Of course if you can bush wack the other guy far away, all the better, but if it comes to knife fight range, you'd better hv your skills and the better aircraft ready... Never say Never...
In this same vein, I'd say the choice of the Mud Hen as our next fighter ( I see some subtle smoke being fired by the RSAF when they changed the program name from NGF (Next GENERATION Fighter program, to the NFRP (Next FIGHTER REPLACEMENT program), is a short term choice and this bird will not last the daylights in another 10-15 years when it gets too long in the tooth...
Altho' the insides can be upgraded often, it is always within the airframe and this design is already 30+ yrs old.. An airplane flies and how well it flies affects the survivablility and mission... Many are now going for low radar signature for getting off the first shot and the Mud Hen will be a BIG FAT target... also, its manoeverability is past the best and will be beaten once the enemy gets into Archer range.. then What? Turn tail and run?? Too late then... Hope all of our vaunted air-battle tactics work or else we would be in deep doo-doo...

Guess back at the vietnam era , AAM not so advanced ba.... in most recent conflict there were no dog fight ... 15 yrs ago a sole Saudi Eagle Downed 2 Mirage F1 at BVR ... during recent Iraq war u then c the MIG engaging USAF at all

... i would think that as a A-G platform the F15T/F15E would be optimal... esp with a greater load carrying capablity
I thot that with the F16Ds flying A-G and SEAD, we would get a better A-A platform, in which the Rafale with its lower RCS and greater manuvorablity will stand out....
I don't know what the Airforce wants.... maybe it want a "cheap" lower cost platform that is cheaper and easiler to integrate into exisitng infrastructure and weapons.....
And then wait for the F-35..... -
with the advent of the new generation super AA missiles (python V, AIM-9X, R-77 etc) i'm not sure if old-school dog-fight is still relevant anymore, i mean, look at the envelope of the python V for instance, you no longer have to point your aircraft to get the bogey in your HUD, just look at it through your helmut ! ... in this era i think, the airframe is secondary to the weapons systems hardware, fighter design has long since reached the limit of human body endurance anyways, so such comparisions are academic at best,

Well, lets look at it this way, the f15 frame has its limitations, and honesty a question here is. If they are realli interested in a strike role why the F15 and not something else?
