I hope the RSAF considers the Typhoon once it gets radar upgraded. Nothing beats a high T/W ratio aircraft that can carry 10 AMRAAMs. -

The flanker is a huge aircraft that can be detected even by the F-16s radar from extreme range, 80-100 miles out. Assuming both the flanker and typhoon radar to be equal strength, the typhoon's low RCS would allow it to avoid the flanker's radar for a lil longer.
Assuming that is, we don't get AMRAAM D's with 2 way data links. With those, the advantage is even greater.

I won't load the Typhoon up with SkyFlash thats for sure. -
Meteors is still under development,thou several live firing have been completed on Rafale n Gripen, it wont be ready by 2010

Anyway e typhoon can carry up 2 18 AMRAAM not 10, 6 of e wing pylons can carry twin rails n e AMRAAM is capable of ribble lanch

According to Eurofighter site, it says up to 10 missiles, mix of BVRAAM and WVRAAMs. How to mount 18...?

You obviously have no experience with a/c much less ftrs. Trust me when i say this with the best intentions: there is no farkin' way any air force will arm the EF with 18 missiles anytime soon. u want to mount 14 x AIM120s on the wings? the engine can provide the trust for flight, but the wings aint gonna take the stress. heck, u dun even need a pilot to tell you that; even an aeronautical enginner will tell you the same.
also, any wartime air campaign planning has to factor in losses/attrition. mounting 18 missiles is a waste.
Do your research. Try and guess which ftr in service today can be armed the most AIM120s and how many... i've seen one before in flight; sure it looks impressive but it aint gonna be worth much in the 'merge. -
Hmm hmm no 1 know e actual preformance of e typhoon n AMRAAM is capable of multiple launch against a single target whether it can be done anot MAY not be impossiable,anyway able 2 carry it n actually carrying it in2 battle is 2 different thing,like u say it may not be a good choice as it affect e aircraft performance but e point im making is how many it can in theory carry not pratically carry Not 1 in e right mind will carry 18 missile on a single aircraft in2 battle

Infact i think 4 AMRAAM is e best number 2 carry on a single airfame as u only maybe get 1 or 2 shot before dogfight n qnh 1011 dun be so agitated anyway u seem 2 know your stuff it will be great 2 share with us more

From what I understand its still 10 AMRAAMs max. 4 Fuselage AMRAAMs, 3 on each wing.
With new AESA radars, i think it is now easily possible to launch Multiple amraams at multiple targets each. Even the F-16 was capable of firing multiple amraams at a single target. But firing at multiple targets need skill. And still needs quite a bit of time and closing fast with the enemy... which is something that shud be avoided. -
Speaking about the Super Hornets...since Malaysia is going to get some...any chance they are better than the F-15SG we are getting?

actually, arming with 18 x AIM120s is not jus abt performance; fact of the matter is it aint gonna happen. it's not abt theories or practicality; reality speaks for itself.

Thats a good deal! Really hope RSAF will consider this offer! Relatively new fighters even without upgrades! I am sure RSAF can cooperate with the Swedish much like what the RSN is already doing.

yes, i know my stuff cos i need to be professional abt wat i do. sadly, i am not at liberty to share/disclose. however, there's alot of info and speculation out there, jus do a search and you'll stand to gain.
Here's a tip: there's something in the list of acquisition related to the F15SG purchase that not many folks picked up. it's not classified; in fact it is listed in the open. Just that not many pple know what it is and its associated use. -

it's not just the a/c that counts... dun get me wrong. a/c performance and capabilities are a major factor, but let's not forget the driver's skills as well.
on paper, there aint a chance in hell that the superbug outperforms the F15SG. realistically, i wouldnt even worry excessively if i had to go up against the superbug or the MKM with what i'm already driving. pls dun preach to me abt arrogance or complancency. those who are in the know will know why. those who dun... well, they jus dun
anyway, try not to look at ftrs as just A-A platforms. nowadays, ftrs perform a myriad of roles.

You may have practiced ur counter-missile manuevers countless of times, trained with the yanks. When betty says "missile", ur first thought is gonna be whether you can pull the handle in time.
