EF's a good bird.. so's the superbug.
like what spart said earlier :"dun be so agitated". so, you went through the FMS and din find anything particularly interesting, lotsa pple have done the same too. let me guide you along:
1. did you check the correct FMS notification?
2. did you go thru each line item thoroughly?
3. did you understand/know each item?
you think 50 x GBU38s and 30 x AGM154As and Cs are interesting. let's see, GBU38s are 500lb and the AGM154 As and Cs are 1000lb. is there anything more potent than that in the list? try looking harder at the non-MDE list and do some research. i'm sure even you can figure that out in time.
as for wat i drive/fly. i dun need to imply anything cos i have made it clear before. even my nick clear enuff. too bad if you missed it. one thing's for sure, i dun fly sims for leisure...
Your last point: i did say dun get preachy on me rite? well, you certainly do sound like that. yup, i'm unbloodied (not 'unblooded') so far... thank God for that. is it so important to be bloodied? u seem to 'imply' that. then again, who are you to set the benchmark for pilots? look around kid, how many pilots can say they have been bloodied over the last decade? the americans, israelis? why are you so eager to see blood? you some kinda war junkie? sorry, we're not in that kind of business... mebbe u can go join the Bush camp. look, you dun need to shoot/drown a soldier to train him. anyway, my intention is never to have an aggressor shoot at me... rather, my intention is to shoot at my aggressor. 'nuff said!
btw, u may have played alot of flight sims, but when a missile's headed your way, ur first thought should not be "whether you can pull the handle in time". for trained pilots (bloodied or unbloodied), instinct will kick in and we'll pray real hard that we can defeat the missile in time.

The Gripen, would make an affordable lead-in fighter trainer that is combat ready, and possible CAS platform for LICs where your technicals are not armed with 4th gen SAMs.

Here's a tip: there's something in the list of acquisition related to the F15SG purchase that not many folks picked up. it's not classified; in fact it is listed in the open. Just that not many pple know what it is and its associated use. -
Thanks RussianPower for that link. Actually i am intrested in all military stuff not just in armour. In order to bring the discussion back to the topic of this thread, I will like to ask qnh1011 if you think Gripen will be an useful asset for RSAF. One possible use is to replace F-5S with Gripens what is your comments on this idea? Thanks

hi tankee, sorry, it's abit inconvenient and time consuming for me to go into detailed discussion abt why the Gripen will not be a useful RSAF asset. besides some of the reasons are still considered sensitive. bottomline: it serves no purpose to us as a LIF or ops a/c. we're better off spending our $$$ elsewhere. trust me on this one, no air force flying the F5 shld replace the latter with the Gripen. there are better optionsOriginally posted by tankee1981:Thanks RussianPower for that link. perhaps u may have been sharper than others to note the GBU31 w/o any prompting, but others obviously need a helping hand eh? i am assuming that u were sharp enuff to note the GBU31 when the list was first released by DSCA on 22 Aug 05. is that a correct assumption or did u only just pick it up? do you know the significance behind 100 pcs of GBU31 as opposed to 50 pcs of GBU38 or 60 pcs of JSOWs? dont u think it is more interesting than the LINK16, GBU38s or JSOWS listed under MDE?
I leave you to answer those qns.

What ticked me off was that flippant attitude of urs. It makes the Air Force looks unprofessional. First thought that crossed my mind was, "wah, our air force got this kinda prick ah?" Of course, that is assuming that what you implied was true, and that u're not just another WANNABE posting those, "I'm from a super sensitive/classified/ bullsh!t unit, I'll tell but I'll have to kill you" messages.

The gripen is a good cost effective aircraft. I don't believe its a "replacement", but a leaping "upgrade."

Look mr. "pilot" if u indeed are a pilot, why don't u just leave ur sqn no. so whatever u say here can be verified if needed. (after all, u're the one that said stuff along the line of:" I know cos i fly something but i can't tell u what i fly" ) I didn't claim to BE anyone, so how is it that I am labelled a "wannabe?" I'm just the average milnut on forums, so why get so defensive?
Understand 1 thing. I didn't START with u by calling u names. Unlike urself who shot back immediately by calling me a "kid." What was it that I first posted that warranted that? I merely said, neither urself, the RSAF OR the rest of the SAF, (us reservists included) are unblooded, and untested. Hence we shouldnt be underestimate or "potential foes" nor carry a complacent and flippant attitude to the duties we are to carry out in war. That is something which u, someone who implicitly implied to be an RSAF pilot, have negatively demonstrated.

I'm guessing RSAF is probably gonna stop buying F-16s, and perhaps acquire more F-15SGs if they decide that they like it enough to buy more. F-15Es are already in the 40-60 mil category, to buy F-5 replacements of the same category is just gonna cost too much to "replace." -

Let me reiterate my problem with from my first post. Besides the attitude, if u're gonna say we over looked the JDAM tailkits, just say so. There's not need to "oH, just look, I can't tell u what is it cos I'm making u think I'm a pilot under OSA, BUT its public domain information."
If there is anything confidential, they u shud just shut off ur computer and not discuss abt it. But if u wanna discuss things that are already available publicly, openly state it!
If everybody comes into the forums like that, unreliably implying that they are from whatever unit, with whatever rumors but can't state the source, its gonna be chaos! Worse still, it even breeds an ill environment for ppl to ACTUALLY reveal stuff they shudden talk about.
So kindly leave ur sqn no. behind. You didn reveal anything highly confidential , since like u said, everything mentioned here has been circulating in public. (OH, UNLESS u are from some confidential unit that is) So no worries, and cheers. -

i believe u need to understand 1 thing: I wasnt even tokking/addressing you in the 1st place. i was merely replying to Spart when u butted in abt being irritated, not having being shot at, pulling the handle and being bloodied remember? and as i explained already, i said 'kid' as a matter of saying it only, not literally... dun blame me if u behave that way in your second reply.
