Next time Asian Aerospace will be held in HK, apparently only the commerical aircrafts, no military, not sure about the defence stuff. In Singpaore 2008 we will have the Singapore Aerospace.
Leeds don't want to spend money to promote Singapore as an airshow destination and Singapore don't want to spend money promote an airshow that is moving away. So we have a less than ideal show. Lucky I don't have to pay money to go in.
Besides, business interests appear to concentrate on supporting softwares and hardwares. Nothing left for the enthusiasts.
Lets hope for a better show in 2008.
Corrections:
Its Reeds. And Changi International Airshow, or Singapore Airshow.
Next AA will be in 2007 at HK.
Like many of the enthusiasts here, I was slightly disappointed with the airshow. The exhibitors are just going through the motions, booth displays are downsized by a lot, even Boeing and Airbus doesn't seem to be trying. Perhaps knowing that they have already gotten their part of the Singapore pie.
No comments on the flying display, it was not unexpected that trainers would take the limelight, and I think its actually a refreshing change from the hard-charging fighters everytime, the trainers showed us a lot of airmanship. Of course, the A380 was undoubtedly the focus of the entire show.
To be fair to the businesses, they are there primarily to showcase their products and make money, not showoff to the enthusiasts. Behind the facade of the entire airshow, its about signing contracts and making money.
