i kinda recalled the new aircon buses rear was all opague. No windows... at least thats the buses i've been taking.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Entrance from the rear of the double-decker bus can be done by smashing the rear-windows. Although there are some buses which do not have a rear-window. Thus, assault team might have to smash the front windows and initiate the assault from there then.
LOL .. what kind of casualty you want?Originally posted by cleong:I still consider it nothing short of a miracle that Singapore's special ops team took out all of the hijackers on SQ117 without a single civilian casualty.

Ya... and the explosive canisters were actually fire crackers.Originally posted by Icemoon:LOL .. what kind of casualty you want?
Those buggers weren't even carrying proper weapons to begin with!
If our SOF can handle Marseille without a single casualty .. we salute them.Originally posted by yoongf:Ya... and the explosive canisters were actually fire crackers.
Ya lor...call infantry come hostage totally no chance.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Honestly, the best operators are those who can overcome obstacles and complete their objectives without firing a single shot. Its not like being a rambo and shooting the whole place up, if so any regular infantry can be called upon to do that.
That's kinda risky for the hostages no? But then so is sending in the assault teams.Originally posted by Shotgun:I think in the case of a HRT, the HRT would move and would definitely shoot to kill the hostage taker. Unless the terrorist becomes really guai, lies flat down on his stomach, arms n legs extended for the HRT to arrest.
in anycase, the bus scenario is not the hardest of scenarios already. If the bus actually gets stopped into a stalemate... its over for the terrorist already. No point fighting. Wear them out until they cannot stay awake den send teams in.
Ur nomal infantry wont have Rambo's luck , skill or power to do that. In case i see u guys coming to box my bus. i Blow it up. I kill the hostages. The thing is u want to be seen as the one resulting in a failed hostage rescue attempt.. or that u have tried ur best n they still blew up the bus n shot up the hostages ?Originally posted by SpecOps87:Honestly, the best operators are those who can overcome obstacles and complete their objectives without firing a single shot. Its not like being a rambo and shooting the whole place up, if so any regular infantry can be called upon to do that.
dis is like wat i have described...the snare will be at the junction...since u mentioned then i say...cos not very nice to let people know where the snare will be.Originally posted by specfore:When I was in Singapore in the 70s, school boy days, there was a hostage taking crisis somewhere near Fort Canning. Can't remember how the criminals were armed ... I think they committed armed robbery with revolvers and it was botched. The criminals boarded a bus after the robbery ( the old SBS non-aircon type) and took a few people hostage.
Our Police Tactical Team reacted by quickly trapping the bus at a junction and surrounded it. Weapons and tactics were not so sophisticated then. I believe one of the criminals was shot through a window by a police inspector with a submachince gun ... type unknown.. (at least this was what was reported). Then they stormed the bus ( no tactics revealed) and rescued everyone. One criminal was injured, the rest were arrested.
