Warship in the Straits of Singapore

An Arleigh Burke -class Guided Missile Destroyer, the USS Pinckney (DDG-91) seen steaming along the Straits of Singapore towards the East. -
The Nimitz Carrier Group is paying Changi a visit from the Gulf.
Led by the Arleigh Burke class Destroyer USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53)
Followed shortly by the USS Nimitz (CVN 68 )
The USS Chafee (DDG 90) followed up
A Seahawk was then observed circling the area for a while before landing on the Ticonderoga class cruiser USS Princeton (CG-59)

Seeing the Nimitz pics really brought back memories back in 1987 (I think), when the Nimitz CBG and the New Jersey group rendezvous off East Coast and it was a damn awesome sight to see the ships anchored off facing each other. It was as if half of the USN's Pacific Fleet was in Singapore!
But then that visit was perhaps timed to concide with a major American Tourist Association meeting in Singapore then. I remembered seeing the ST running a pic of bustling Orchard Road with US MPs in full uniform 'patrolling' this belt to ensure the Servicesmen stays in 'order'!
Anyway, that was the 1st time and only last time, that I saw the New Jersey in person (I stood at East Coast and used a bincoulars and saw the unmistakable penchant number '62' at the bow.
Anyone remembered that visit? -

My dad had a chance to visit the Enterprise decades ago when it visited our neck of the woods and the pictures he took always had me dreaming of a chance to visit a carrier. My wish came true when I got the chance to visit the Nimitz when it was passing through here on the it's way to the Gulf back in '03. The Princeton was riding shotgun then too. I gotta tell ya, just to be standing at the dockside looking up at the bow of that thing, wow, just wow.

I am not sure if USN allows Carrier Visits now whenever they port in Changi.
I was aboard USS Carl Vinson approx 1 week before Sept 11, 2001.
if security tightened since, i must be the last batch of such ppl. -

Edit: And how did the first page dude spot so many features off a grainy pic? I can't tell the difference between cannons and crane at that distance... -
USS Nimitz is in port, with at least 6 ships from its battle group.

Add another few more Jap ships that arrived sometime after the Nimitz.
Before this was a Marines assault ship that acts as both carrier and LST.
And before this was CVN-74 USS Stennis, with it's stragglers also.
Nice to see. But the base security now heightened with at least 1 PV going round and round.
And LSD-49 USS Harper Ferry appears to be the perm at CNB. -
And there's what appears to be a ship of the ticonderoga class also.
Very distinctive superstructure. -
And also a submarine that came a few days before the carrier group.
Appears to be an Ohio-class sub. Now at port with the main group. -
And before that was a Jap combat stores ship accompanied by what appears to be a Kongo-class ship.

USNS San Jose (T-AFS 7) came round again this afternoon.

DDG-91 arrived sometime after the big group left.
Today's arrival, gunship from dunno where now at CNB. Armed with 2 guns on forecastle and aft.
Too far to see ensign clearly.

And sandwiched in between was the ever-majestic USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63)
