It is veri easy to smuggle arms into singapore. Tuas and Woodlands aren't the ony checkpoint. Sg dun sell guns to locals... its one of the biggest arms dealing nation around...

I saw in some newsreel years back showing Croatia militia marching with Ultimax LMGs. I think there's also some 2nd hand Ultimax for sale from Balkans too - 100 pounds if I remember correctly.
Also saw front page a picture of Ultimax in Fiji during the coup thingy. -

Seen a picture of SR88 in Fiji islands.

Reports of a Singapore pre-fab small arms factory in Burma....etc.
I think the last Austin Powers movie featured a Ultimax 100 without the butt and SAR21s in the Japanese factory shot. -

There is an EU embargo and a US embargo and that already rules out all the western suppliers... sure, they could still buy from russia, china and all alternative sources but would you be surprised if they did????
so unless u categorise Sg as being one of those "alternative" sources who has absolutely no moral qualms about selling anything to anybody (which is actually precisely the case )....
some people (not me...) are still under certain illusions that Sg has yet to lose its innocence... -

Also, during the 80's when still small small boy, I worked part-time as a production operator during holidays for a well established international company specialised in making NVG.
During my 6wk stay there, saw 3 arabs with vry distinct iranian accent(I may be wrong), how I know they were arabs? They stared salivery at our chinese women who dun wear tudungs with short skirts like looking at porno pics in playboy magazine.
They ordered a huge cache of NVG's, night sniper/MG scopes, oversaw the assembly paid in cash and left.
The order may have been made overseas but delivery in asia because of sensitivity(western double standards).
Think the company no longer operate here. They went "global" few years ago with the advice from our good government. -

Actually ST should look into weapons for peacekeeping purposes: How to adapt the SAR 21 or other assault rifles into a weapon for suppressing rioters etc......
I think rifle launch projectiles of one sort or another is the way to go. Instead of firing bullets they should be used to launch nets or baseballs or something.
There must be something in the works by now. Anyone has seen anything from ST???
The recent thing in Russia should be a pointer too. Instead of powerful gases that knock people out maybe something else that can reach out to the animal instinct in all of us.......make them horny or something!

hey buzz, just a thought here: whatever your anti-riot police shoot, dun make them shoot anything larger 2cm in diameter, else if they miss, which some of them sure will, or whatever they shoot bounces away, the rioters will pick up the objects and throw them back at the police, thats why base balls are a no-no, they'll pick up the baseballs you shoot and throw it back at you
