Ermmm , my country is high on her total defence strategic , doesnt mean all of us must be well verse in all fields of warfare , weaponary blah blah.
Abt the projectile thing , y not sir u enlighten mi on it ........for wat i know , the rockets is free spining and unguided in flight. It can be track down by radars and be shot down by baraks. The successive rate is another thing. -

RMN Lekiu frigates's seawolfs SAMs have sucessfully intercepted and destroyed 105mm rounds in exercises. Since they can do it why can't we?

I've never seen so much speculative bullshit in mylife. Some clarification:
The G5 155mm how is a 45 calibre howitzer. The range is 30km using standard projectiles and 39km using base-bleed projectiles. This is slightly lower than FH2000 reported 42km max range using base-bleed projectiles.
As for Astros II, it was reported that the rockets purchased up north are the SS-60/SS-80 types. These have the max range of 80km. Cargo munitions are not exclusive to just S'pore. Denel's also sells cargo munitions for the G5 how.
So far no one have been successful in shooting down rockets (and this includes the Israelis). It is also not feasible to use an expensive missile (like a barak etc) to shoot down a cheap rocket.
Finally, if they guys up north really want to get nasty, they can always use the radioactive wastes from their nuclear reactor at PUSPATI, to mix it up with explosive for the shells of their Astros rocket or 155mm shells to create a "dirty" bomb and fire it indiscriminately. -

No one use the missile to shoot a rocket doesnt mean it cant work. I will be willing to use an expensive missile to shoot the cheap rocket to prevent it from destroying our more expensive and valuable facilities.
Baraks are build to counter SRBM , cruisemissile , aircraft in confined area . I believe it can be applied to counter rockets.
If malaysia will to use dirty bomb then that is commiting sucide. Singapore is a foreign land , jus across a strait.........( i nv know malaysia have nuclear material in this nuclear free zone. ) -

Yes there is a research nuclear facilities in BANGI!. Use for from medical to agriculture related stuff etc....Is no big deal any way. Most country have this facilities to assist research for the industry directly or otherwise. I am sure the nearest neigbour ada......

I visted PUSPATI once on a field trip, and those guys there have PhDs in nuclear physics!!
The only time S'pore comes close to nuclear devices is when the US aircraft carrier stops at Changi Naval Base. And the US guys won't even let you see.
There are no other countries in this region that has such research facilities as M'sia. The closes is Australia.
Philipines and Indonesia once had such grand ideas to have a full blown production nuclear facilities for power generation but as Marcos and Suharto departed the political scene and with their economy in the pits...it was just an idea still. -

Anyhow my point is most modern sam with good fire control radar can track & destroy projectile or something moving in the air with a good probibility.
Even a seawolf managed to stop a 4.5 in shell in flight....and that test was conducted in 80ies+ or so.
The question is was it worth doing it? Then why do you built underground facilities and some of your over or underpass is such "location" around your country in the first place.
Well at least your Apache & F16 have to find it first. That a lot of place to hide in your or what so ever "Mersing Line"!!!! -

U can hide ur C3I and lots of things underground but can radar , runway , control towers , SAMs pieces underground? If we have this capacity to shoot the bloody rocket down , y dun we shoot the rockets while the F-16s and Apaches have ample time and the chance to clear those MLRS on the ground. If we fail to destroy the MLRS first and the first salvo hit our ground , the consequence on our side is horrible.
*note that they have only 18 MLRS pieces for the whole two territory , the rockets they can fire in one salvo isnt that difficult and expensive ( compare to losing the whole airbase ) to shoot down.

Their MLRS also have a costal defence role to defend against amphibious assaults. This could also make a problem for SAF troops landing on their beaches.

18 astros for KMs long of coast.......?( theres a possiblity ) I believe it will be a failure.
I believe Astros are bought to conduct stratigical attacks onto Singapore , maximising our archillies heel which is more a success then the coasten defence role.
If they will to protect the coast by using MLRS , they will have to destroy everything that we set foot on. Maybe if the soldiers are stationed in a coasten city , they will most likely have to destroy that part of the city too.If they will to plan to destroy the troops on the beach landings, then their friendly defence troops on the beach may be in danger too. If they plan to destroy the ships , the unguided rockets could do much little on mobile ships with missile defense system y not get land-based exocet.
Of course there is exception in stratigics . -
A MLRS battery is known as a grid square eraser, for it can totally saturate one grid square worth of terrain with bomblets. They could pose a problem if we lose air superiority. If they do fire, we could counterbattery them or pop them with a manverick or two. Heh heh, better, call in 75mm and 90mm fire from the Navy, if the range is close enuff. So the RSAF A-4s, F-16s and soon might be Rafels better do their jobs or else void deck a lot of funerals...

I believe the HS room in all new and future HDB flats are build for a purpose...
While one seriously doubt the HDB flats ability to withstand direct impacts from 155mm HE or HEDP shells... the flats with the HS units should have no problem dealing with bomblet 155mm rounds...
And as to how to counter the MRLS of malaysia... well.. the key lies in the brain... not in the range of our weapons... -
I suppose that's what our commandos are for... Or shall we start forming a core of rapid response and deployment troops not unlike the US Rangers, wider in scope then the Guards.

That is a rather different MLRS system. The one Malaysia using can onli fire 4 missile in each salvo which is different from the US 12 rockets MLRS which earn the name as grid square remover.
