Did you not see how clean the cut off happened at the aft section that came clean off the Patrol Vessel ?
The vessel was constructed in modular sections and glued together with "super glue" so as to achieve light weight with less weld slags.
The mast came off by the shock of being rammed which jolted the strenght of the glue as the force at the top was greater then the strength of the glue.
With a wide gaping hole after losing Twenty Percent of its stern, it is fantastic that the remaining length of the vessel could stay afloat.
Great design, great emergency reaction by the Crew.
Unfortunately, the hull had no crash absorbing bars - much like those installed on the sides panels of Volvo cars.
