cfit ( control flight into terrain) the CO flew into the mountain. the nvg not good enough and they made the wrong turn. lucky the wingman broke off when the tacan signal was lost. another reason was that they were pushing themselves too much cos before the detachment the sqn was not doing well, they cancelled alot of missions due to technical faults.Originally posted by bcoy:What about the one the crashed in Taiwan years ago? Bad weather or technical fault?
Isn't the NH90 replacing the Lynx in some European countries already?
Horrors of Horror, my apologies for the error, as I had got some information mixed up, and concluded that the Sikorsky H-92 was re-designated as the NH-90 in Europe.Originally posted by cavsg:NHIndustries is the Prime Contractor for Design & Development, Industrialisation, Production, and Logistic Support for NH90 Helicopters.
NHIndustries signed the NH90 Design & Development Contract on 1st September 1992 with NAHEMA.
NAHEMA (NATO Helicopter Management Agency) represents the Four Participating Nations: France, Italy, Germany and The Netherlands.
NHIndustries was established in 1992 by the 4 Companies sharing the D&D of the NH90 Programme: AGUSTA (Italy) 28.2%, EUROCOPTER (France) 41.6%, EUROCOPTER DEUTSCHLAND 23.7%, and FOKKER (The Netherlands 6.5%).
What is the sikorsky link?

such accident will surely be reported on the newspaper..... but there has been not news report of this nature...probably just a rumour and will always remain a rumour.....Originally posted by eurofighter:Also heard once when a super puma under slung rope hook onto the mast of a LST, bringing down the whole heli into the sea, killing all on board.
Been in a similar situation before - many years ago.Originally posted by tripwire:i was involved in an exercise with the super puma once... a heli-op over 4 days... every night take chopper...
the RSAF sent 12 puma to support our trainning... there were no technical error... the exercise went off like clock work... and my eyeballs dropped on seeing how 12 puma moved an entire battalion to anywhere on singapore...
really kowtow to those puma then...
in my opinion, the huey was the better aircraft although its design is older. its design as a military aircraft compare to puma which was converted from civilian. I'm not sure how well the puma is doing in australia but seems that the local ones have got rid of their problems. i personally detest french aircraft, all my life the french made planes(civil and military) that i got involved with are lousy compare to american ones. I pray that rafale is not selected! french may be technically more advanced but when it comes to servicing them, its a pain in the ass.Originally posted by buzz:During my time in the RSAF, Super Puma's serviceablility is not as good as the Bell Huey! Also there were a couple of crashes as well in that one year.
Since then they have got the second batch of Cougars and maybe installed Engine Health Monitoring System as well. This could have improved the reliability record.
Still, compared to Huey the Super Puma/Cougars are a little delicate for the role of combat support as known in Vietnam by the Huey. However the Cougars can lift a lot more stuff.
This is probably not true for MH60S compared to NH-90 and if Sikorsky throw in an attractive option to upgrade to H-92 Helibus, then the NH-90 will surely loose!
I knew of such an incident as my father told me before. Sadly, his colleague's son was in the copter when it went down.Originally posted by kanzer:such accident will surely be reported on the newspaper..... but there has been not news report of this nature...probably just a rumour and will always remain a rumour.....

Yeah...those exercises were fun eh? I took part in one of the...only a small group of us on board....The only thing I found troublesome for the Super Puma was the lack of skids...that made rapelling really challenging!Originally posted by tripwire:i was involved in an exercise with the super puma once... a heli-op over 4 days... every night take chopper...
