Singapore joins US-led programme to develop new generation stealth fighter
Singapore will be taking part in the system design and development phase of a new generation of advanced stealth fighters under a US-led programme.
Its Defence Ministry and the US Department of Defence today signed a Letter of Intent which paved the way for Singapore's participation in the Joint Strike Fighter or JSF Programme.
MINDEF said, this has the potential to meet the RSAF's longer term operational requirements for a multi-role fighter.
The stealth fighter will also have enhanced combat survivability, precision engagement and lower cost maintenance.
Singapore is the first Asian country to join the JSF Programme.
Other partners in the collaboration include the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Italy, Norway, The Netherlands and Turkey.

Paying $50-$70 million dollars for this participation I believe. What do you think of it? I think it is a sure sing of Singapore getting JSF in future after 2010. . .

The JSF was developed to work with the F-22...the F-22 porvide air superiority and the JSF strike
The JSF does have AA capability, but it will be used mainly for strike....something like the F/A-18..but a bit more -
JSF is more towards multipurpose missions mainly for strike as primary , air defence as secondary aka [( for mi ) stealth skyhawk]

as compare to F-22 raptor,how is the JSF radar signature be like.
or RCS? -
JSF RCS is almost same as Raptor.some said as small as 0.1square meter,
The B2 Bomber has a radar cross section of .75 square meters. -
U.S. Air Force F-117 Stealth fighter plane has an RCS of 1 sq m or slightly less),so JSF which share some of the raptor stealth charateristic will be quite impressive!
