That's why is so bizzare... body armour saves lives and increases survability by so much yet so many nations do not bother to implement them... maybe becoause the advantages of body armour are not well documented and we're a conscript army anyway, so who cares? I think peacetime everyone will ditch their body armour if possible. Come wartime, everyone will be q-ing outside the QM or amoury.
Not that body armour only increases your survability if it is of the right threat level, if you go in with a level three vest into a level five threat environment, might as well not wear.
Besides, when bullet proof body armour was first invented in the 19 century by this british guy, the brit army dismissed the invention because they tot it was a bloody unbritish way to fight a war and that men were supposed to die for their country. Military habits do not necessary fit with common sense, they are a very conservative organization and left to their own devices, would still be using muskets.
Body armour works, period. And it works to a great extent... If it did not, the US and Israeli army would not be having plans to eventually develop equip all its troops with such equipment. The advantages of body armour suddenly become obvious when the bullets start flying... -

It had been mentioned (somewhere in this forum i think) of the effectiveness of sandbags aginst certain type of warhead (can't remember what though). When i mentioned the side racks, i don't necessary mean the fullpacks must be placed there, but what I really want to say is that this will give us flexibility when we need it. As for torned fullpacks, the kind of rack I have in mind would be close to what the Ultras are fitted with above the ramp.
For those who are/were AIs, you should remember how we hate folding the damned camo net after "use". You should also remember the haste we keep it under certain "scenario", such as those "quick exit", etc. Having additional racks will enable us to simply chuck the net without need for much securing when you are in need of saving a few precious seconds. -

So are you taking along body armour or not?
Body armour should rank very high up in priority among the equipment a soldier carries, like the rifle, his very life depends on it... If people dun mind taking along other bulky gear to battle in their packs, BA should not be left out because it's so much more important then most of the items included...
As a matter of fact, BA is considered not just one of the equipment the US Army's land warrior uses, but a module in itself, meaning that Land Warrior is not complete without body armor, while it would be without a canteen or alice pack. -

If AIs hate the quick dispersal drills with a section..imagine the tankees with 3 men. -
I agree with you on the camo net thing. It can be a real b***h when folding. However, this can be corrected with training. ) and their nets are HUGE! And that's not even it. An M113 mortar carrier crew can get it done even quicker with lesser crew (again, confidential ), using the same size of nets as the regular APCs; just look at the mortar platoon in your SAR. So I guess its a matter of getting used to it. -

They do not destroy tanks but they have to defend against tanks.... by destorying them.
And yes, they carry LAW tubeS in their vehicles.
