they are tomahawks right?Originally posted by Orcishwarrior:Maybe saf should acquire/develop naval missile system that act like a cruise missile probably at least havin a range of 150 +km which will give singapore navy tactical advantage hostile nations.
Thats what the US did by just firin their 1000 + Km cruise missile from US destroyers or Cruiser without lossing a single battle vessel
Haiz......makin those iraqis a sitting duck pathetic!!
are u saying that singapore has the tomahawk cruise missile?Originally posted by Anza Andy:Read 2 years ago on the net that us sell 200 submarine base tomahawks, 50 F111 base to Australia and 20 land base to Singapore. All range are reduce to 800km. I cannot get into the side the next day.
From amongst the various countries that form ASEAN, Singapore is by far the most respected country in South-east Asia that is accepted by the USA.Originally posted by Anza Andy:Morever the wedside show this 3 counties buy at around 2 million a pices. 40 million, is a price of a new plane, singapore will not spent that much.
Sg and Us are not that good relation for them to sell Sg. So i dout Sg own it.
i think if not wrong.. the latest exocet missile from france has a devastating range exceeding 180km!! known as the exocet MM40 block 3...Originally posted by Orcishwarrior:Maybe saf should acquire/develop naval missile system that act like a cruise missile probably at least havin a range of 150 +km which will give singapore navy tactical advantage hostile nations.

i wont be surprised if they did sell it to us... not because i wanna believe that SAF have all the nice stuff...Originally posted by Anza Andy:Morever the wedside show this 3 counties buy at around 2 million a pices. 40 million, is a price of a new plane, singapore will not spent that much.

sometimes i think we have,Originally posted by tripwire:i wont be surprised if they did sell it to us... not because i wanna believe that SAF have all the nice stuff...
but because... even if the US did sell it to us... we cant use it without US approvals due to the fact that the tomahawk require terrain guidance satellite based imaging and guidance... which i dont think we have...
so even if they sell it to us... we cant use it.. even if its in singapore..

so you mean we must have us approval before we put those f-16 birds up too ?

Tomahawk will not need terrain guidance satellite, because all the objective target will be fix long before the war, if sg own it. So, is just one button and emeny 20 buildings or F18s shelter.... BOOM!Originally posted by tripwire:i wont be surprised if they did sell it to us... not because i wanna believe that SAF have all the nice stuff...

We'll be fighting litorial warfare. So i dont think we need to have an anti-ship missile of that range.Originally posted by tripwire:i think if not wrong.. the latest exocet missile from france has a devastating range exceeding 180km!! known as the exocet MM40 block 3...
maybe that is why the RSN wanna use the french exocet missile...
I think u are wrong to say that. MM40 b3 are better in litorial water then b2. Sg interested, but the time was not right. B3 are expect to in service around 2006.Originally posted by eurofighter:We'll be fighting litorial warfare. So i dont think we need to have an anti-ship missile of that range.
in the first place, I dun think the astros is meant for attacking ships, but even in the event they are used as coastal artillery, the nature of MLRS is to fire a large barrage of rockets, i doubt the barak can stop it, maybe it might stop a few, though it is unlikely, definitely it will not stop all rockets that can be fired at one time.Originally posted by Moonstriker:even if the astros come slamming in... our ships' Barak sould be abloe to take care of them right?
the ASTROS II can be used as coastal defence system. in fact, brazil is using it as a coastal defence system.Originally posted by laser51088:in the first place, I dun think the astros is meant for attacking ships, but even in the event they are used as coastal artillery, the nature of MLRS is to fire a large barrage of rockets, i doubt the barak can stop it, maybe it might stop a few, though it is unlikely, definitely it will not stop all rockets that can be fired at one time.
by coastal defence they meant shooting the beaches dude........Originally posted by Innocent_Malaysian:the ASTROS II can be used as coastal defence system. in fact, brazil is using it as a coastal defence system.
btw, i read somewhere that the ASTROS II cannot be countered by SAMs or anything like that.
my 3 cents
