71 Hornets - 4 crashed. Although the Hornets are "built" to A/B standards, they have bene upgraded to C/D standards with the a new radar, electronic countermeasures, weapon systems (ASRAAM and AMRAAM), etc during the Hornet Upgrade (HUG) Project.Originally posted by bcoy:I thought Australia had 75 F18 A/Bs and 35 F111 C/Gs.

If australia can get hold of the F-22 in current situation whereby the region do not realli see the need of a true steath-interceptor , then i believe the chances of singapore having the raptors are extremely high too.Originally posted by Joe Black:BTW, some off topic...
Given Australian Govt is certain to lean towards a F35 purchase, I wonder if they also secretly eyeing for the F/A22 to replace the pigs to act as the silver bullet in the RAAF ORBAT? There are some push and Carlo Kropp definitely would like to see this. He has been harping on this subject all the time in the ADF magazines. Anyway, he also suggested an interim upgrade of the pigs with a SAR radar coupled with a good stand-off weapon with the ability to go far greater distance than the popeyes. Man, if RAAF suddenly get the funding to do this, a lot of non-friendly-to-Australia countries in the 1000km radius would be panicking and won't pick a fight with Australiahee
wah so many ? true not ?Originally posted by Anza Andy:I am from Australia. From what I understand, Aust has a strong Air, normal sea and a weak land.
In Air, it has 150 F18ab,60 F111 etc..
In land , it has only 50,000 man compare to sg 320,000 men.
Anyone has more infor?
If u will to compare australia's landmass to her armed force inventory , those numerical figures are very small for a continent. However due to the fact Australia do not face any potiential enemy ( maybe indonesia in the 60s era ) , she do not see in need to build by a very strong armed force. A welfare oriented cum agricultural based country , Australia cant afford to build up an armed force an par with western powers. Her armed force figure now are jus for defense and a little deterrent , not even big i should say.Originally posted by kim_hwoarang:wah so many ? true not ?![]()

Interestingly enuff, the Assuies used the Centurions before. It was employed in the Vietnam conflict, and apparently it was the only MBT that could survive the effects of an RPG round.
