MINDEF says it has replied to all M'sian protests over airspace intrusionsBy S Ramesh
Singapore's Defence Ministry (MINDEF) says it has investigated and replied to every Malaysian diplomatic protest over intrusions by Singapore's air force into Malaysian airspace.
MINDEF made this point after it was reported that Malaysian Deputy Defence Minister Shafie Apdal had told Malaysia's Parliament, the Dewan Rakyat, that Malaysia had protested five intrusions by the RSAF in 2002.
The Malaysian Minister added that Singapore had not provided any reply.
Rebutting this, MINDEF said two of the incidents involved navigational errors, and the Singapore air force had apologised even before Malaysia protested.
Nevertheless, Singapore's Foreign Ministry had replied to Wisma Putra's official protest regarding the 2 incidents.
As for the other 3 allegations, MINDEF says they are entirely without basis, and have been formally refuted.
