andy, can you state the differnce? thanks!Originally posted by Anza Andy:Which is better for the new RSN freight.
I think Aster 30 with barak will be the best for RSN freight.
lol yah, unfortunately SM-2 also big as hell, its 4.41 metre long and the ER version is 7.9 metre long, weight is 621 kg and weight of ER version is 1341kg, fun eh? carry enough of those and you'll sink the RSN ship. . .Originally posted by |-|05|:get SM-2 the best lah range is like 40-90Nm(160km)!!While the ER version has a range of 200Nm(380km)!!!!!Now that my friend is RANGE! imagine being able to hit a plane that just took off from KL while the ship is still docked in Tuas!

SM-2 especially the ABM version is the way to go bearing in mind the ASTROS and the likes. Too bad the new frigates cannot take it.

than u compromise on its ability to carry weightOriginally posted by buzz:Agree! SM-2 especially the ABM version is the way to go bearing in mind the ASTROS and the likes. Too bad the new frigates cannot take it.
How about the Endurance 'LST' platform or enlarged derivative?
than u compromise on its ability to carry weightYa, that's provided it's still a 'LST'.......being a multi-role platform I believe it can be also be a replenishment craft or mini heli carrier.
How abt putting it on land.....Originally posted by buzz:Agree! SM-2 especially the ABM version is the way to go bearing in mind the ASTROS and the likes. Too bad the new frigates cannot take it.

the ABM is the SM-3 is it not?Originally posted by foxtrout8:How abt putting it on land.....
Btw , if the SM-2 will to be AB version , if im not wrong it have to co-ordinate with the Aegis Missile Defense System.
Hmmm, heli carrier sounds like a damn good idea, stretch the thing, put all the control and electronics to an osland structure on starboard side, and u got urself a heli carrier as cappable as any other, phweeeee, why not? A heli carrier will serve as a good flagship for the navyOriginally posted by buzz:Ya, that's provided it's still a 'LST'.......being a multi-role platform I believe it can be also be a replenishment craft or mini heli carrier.
I know thats what the Hawkeye is for mah.Just that the missile can hit from it's dock and indeed even from sea could cover half of malaysia.Originally posted by YourFather:There are quite a few misconceptions here....
1. The Aster 30 has no anti-ballistic missile capability. The still notional Aster 45 is the missile which is slated to have such a capability.

Nope. Your plane which took off from KL cant even be seen by the radar on the ship in Tuas. (The horizon, remember?) So how to guide the missile to a hit? Unless you have a CEC capability onboard the ship and a Hawkeye....
