counter strike and real life combat is totally different.
as far as combat experience is concern,
singapore, IMO, fared badly as compared
to , say, phillipines malaysia thailand or indonesia.
sad to say, the furthest combat experiences that our
stars ever had would be the exercise tiger balm.
but then again i dun know how things have changed these days.
ehh.... i mean ... our neighbours war experience is hardly even worth mentioning...
a full conventional war.... those kind of war.. like the WW2, gulf war and korean war.. is not something any nation can fight on a regular basis.... else their economy long kaput liow...
COIN operations while does provide realistic engagement... lacks the tempo, numbers, stress, command complexity and techonological levels found in a full conventional war...
take malaysia for example, i sincerely cannot imagine chasing 27 old man along the thai malaysia border for over 20 years as commendable war "experience"

lastly, combat effectiveness is not determined based on war experience alone.. iraq's veterens simply fell and humbled by young punks in the US army....whose probably real war experience is little more then shooting off at counterstrike....
