Cheap and good, once in a lifetime. Also I see that Matador is classed as a "recoilless rifle."

Germany reported 56 more L2A4s being exported to SG together with 39 in previous years making it 95 up to 2010.
Also reported was F-15 exports to SG from the US together with 72 Amraams…
I thought we have more than 95 in the first round.
You really have to see one of those monsters up close, to realise their awesomeness. I have to admit, washing them is a pain.

What bull is this. There are more second hand ones than first hand ones in the world and if we have the most, then we have nothing to fear from this pitifully weak world.
As for wasting money, nobody has bought a first hand one in ages. If you buy a first hand one, the only word that can describe you is Saudi.

They aren't meant to be washed, true beauty is in a dirty tank! :D

Leopard 2 tanks are considered one of the best in the world. Even if they're second-hand, seriously, so what? If it can move like a tank and fight like a tank, then it is a win in my book.
And mind you, if you had bothered doing any level of research, you would have learnt that many other countries like Norway, Spain, Poland and Turkey bought second-hand Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany and Holland.
Hell, Turkey has 298 second-hand Leopard 2A4s, Poland has 128, Finland has 124, etc etc. Based on these numbers alone, your assertion that Singapore has the most number of 2nd-hand Leopard tanks is pure rubbish.
Please stop humiliating yourself.
hahaha...i think we all know who susanteo is.

ST is not accurate on defence matters or much else. They reported 66+30.

you only see clean ones in parade.

we bought the tanks based on their performance, and what we paid is value for money.
we know you from what you write, we won't pay a single cent.
wanna talk about wasting money, we wasted even more on our S1 to S3 armoured vehicles.
1- prime mover for a man who does nothing but go from buffet to buffet. this variant is airmobile only when unloaded.
3- dual role national command post vehicle and medical vehicle, for a man who left the cabinet 21 years ago. this variant gives an extra smooth ride.
2- secondary command post vehicle. this variant has extra armor to insulate the occupant from the common people's problems. performs command role when #3 is indisposed.

My mistake on earlier numbers. Mindef reported 66+30. 95 is about there. ST reported another 36. Whether that will materialise remains to be seen. Like MY news reporting about buying so and so, doesn't tie to UN numbers either.
ST is very ignorant of defence matters and SAF does nothing to help them improve. There's this ex defence correspondent who is very critical of the way SAF handles publicity especially (and the officers responsible).
waste of $$ ?
what do you recommend then?
1. The June copy of Army News features the boxy, non-APS 2A4s and describes them as "upgraded". I wonder what is meant by this, aside from addition of the BMS?
http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/mindef_websites/atozlistings/army/army_news.html
2. These non-APS tanks have been quite prominent in recent mindef photos and videos including one of an urban warfare exercise with Terrex motorized infantry. An indication that as important MBT protection is in urban warfare, infantry are a better form of protection than APS? Or an indication of uncommon or experimental status of APS-equipped tanks?
3. Also, what is the definition of "spare tanks"? Spare parts hulls, experimental tanks, NDP tanks, or tanks for reservists / kept in storage = no practical difference except to appear less aggressive?
4. IIRC the figure of 350 AMX-13s consisted of spares as well, including spare parts hulls. Correct me if I'm wrong, but were some converted into other vehicles or were these recovery vehicles, AVLBs etc bought the way they are?
