Why would a larger standing army be an advantage?
Tactically speaking with modern weapons, a large defending army in such a small area is a tactician's wet dream.
Defending wise it's not a deterence, it's a disadvantage. -

Astros2, waste of time, fuel, n resources.
Think about it this way, who can afford using MLRS freely? USA? Why, they got a lot of surplus stock of munitions, waiting to be expended. In our region, every shot we fire must be worth the money. 90km range so what? How long does it take for the rocket to travel? Is it useful at all to their infantry and armor if their launcher is 70-80km back?
Overhere, contact with the enemy will be close, and furious. Whoever that can get the shells landing on the enemy as quickly and accurately as possible will force the enemy to break contact.
Conclusion : Range is not everything. Long Range indirect fire like the Astros2 is only useful for one thing, preplanned bombardment. Useful in that area, but expensive. -
