If you still are not convinced, then I think the 4 crew who died on board RSS Courageous died in vain for the likes of your kind.

what did those crew who perished for????war??did any ship fired upon them?fired from aircraft?struck a seamine?
actual truth is that they died unnecessarily due to an accident in navigation. or was it due to inexperienced inalert captain?had the above been eliminated they wouldnt have died at all and would have led productive lives or so today.
u should get stories of real warriors sacrificing for sporeans on real combat or super secret missions where not much combat people dared or where people actually last minute ran off from secret mission in fear in spore side.u cant go around comparing nation building with accidents.its like comparing apples with oranges.

People die of accidents sometimes, but just because this accident happened in camp or on a naval ship, while the person was in uniform, does not make it a heroic death. Nor did they lose their lives defending the country.

WAR----------an act of aggression where millions are wiped out in days.they lost their lives unnecessarily be it accident or low gain combat missions.in fact they death seem like it was a wanton waste of country resources.

SG definitely need army
during super peace time like now perhaps can cut budget or reduce army size but cannot close shop
however since indon is starting to get lotsa new weapons from US and elsewhere, SG better continue to build up our military muscles
go find out how these neighbours tried to made us bow to them ... if you are ok with it then perhaps can consider to cut army .. else at least we must be able to bomb the hell out of them if they ever play punk

Will there be one day when it becomes pointless to serve NS? Cos i have been thinking has my 2 and a half years been wasted. An MP even proposed a defence tax......What has become of the govt? As if NS is for sale.
