Maybe S'pore is covertly helping Indonesia the seperatist problem?
But its better to quell the rebellion cause you never know one day they turned like Abu Sayyaf and hijack ships and we have alot of ships moving in that area. If somemore take hostage, dont tell me we had to rely on Kopassus or Kopaska do retrieve them? Sure they do, the best they come back in bodybags, the worse the hostages comes back in matchboxes. -

who's talking about religion. Abu Sayyaf is a bandit group and even kill muslim guys from Indonesia taken hostage. all they want is cash, buy weapons, start a real insurrection, if succeed most probably would be corrupt and worsen the situation in Mindanao. hell there was even talk from GAM(Free Aceh Movement) militias to impose taxes on those passing the waters off Aceh. This is not about religion but about cash and power. Aceh is full of natural gas and oil. Course the govt and militias want to harness it. The problem with Indonesian forces though is they kill to many innocent civilians and ostracised the good guys to tell rebel positions and where they hiding. Just shows how much they ignored PSYOPS.

It will not be too surprising if Singapore is helping cash strapped Indonesia to fight the "Aceh Terrorists", who can only cause more instability in Indonesia if they were to succeed in splitting Aceh Province from Indonesia.
Indonesia will break up like Yugoslavia, with the many diverse ethnic groups, each with an ambitious local millionaire trying to be the Chief Minister of their respective province, and then milking the wealth of the Province with no one able to question them.
Can Singapore afford to stay on the side lines, and not help the Indonesian Government to win this internal war?
When the Indonesia Military win this war, with Singapore helping in the background, our military ties can only deepen further in friendship and trust.
It is a Win-Win situation for everyone, except GAM. -

well, those indonesian marines obviously are in a combat situation and need more ammo. i am no GPMG gunner but i bet S'pore has the 100 rounds one.

What u toking about? The Ultimax is one of the finest SAWs around in the world today.
We have the 100 round drum mag wat... but it looks like SAF too cheapscate to deploy them until war really start, to safe ammo in case some recruit decide to try if a wild boar will really come apart if you empty the entire mag into it and then claim the boar was attacking.
BTW, I've read from SAF vetrans that wild boars are good at dodging bullets, can almost imagine them bending back like Neo in bullet time...

I believe they have the CIS40AGL and the CIS50MG as well, thought I saw them in the news quite a while ago where they have their military parade... Can anyone verify this?

Poor man's SAW? The Ultimax is arguably the best SAW weapon along with the M249 MiniMi. Hell, there's even rumours certain SEAL units prefered it rather than M-249 cos its lighter and easier to lug around in recon missions.Originally posted by foga:there are 100 rounds drum magazines

I heard this story about some recruit shooting a dog during sentry patrol along a road. Claimed that the dog was charging at him. He wasn't able to convince the panel and spent some time in DB.

In combat situation, take the 30 round mag over the 100 round. Its much more reliable. 100 round drum jams constantly. Almost impossible to fire entire drum without stoppage during my time. (maybe they have fixed the problem by now). Also, 30 round mag interchangeable with M-16 mag. Not quite true. my men and I charged up the hills during live firing at SAFTI. The 100 live rounds drum mag with the SAW performed beautifully with sustained fire power without stoppages. On the topic of SAWs-
Some time back, I seem to recall seeing a SAR21 SAW version with a heavy barrel, bipod and from the description - fires from an open bolt, on the former SAR21 website. The website no longer exists - and on ST's site, there is no mention of it anymore. I assume that the idea could be dropped (only the basic, GL, MMS and P-rail versions are shown now). If that is the case, will there be an improved Ultimax 100 (Mk 4?) or maybe even something new? -
how many versions of SAR-21 are available now? i heard there is 5 version including one with RIS system
