hee hee... yeah... they've got some ego... even though their arms force is nothing to boast about... the most siong training they ever go through is some boys-scout type "adventure camp"...Originally posted by kanzer:i cannot believe that they think that they are better train than the americans.......
erm...so who's gonna invade them? Australia?Originally posted by kanzer:.... who knows... one day we might end up defending them!!!!!!!!!
Well, NZ is actually relying on Aussies to protect them. Aussies are binded to protect NZ by the ANZUS treaty, plus some other Australia and New Zealand only teaties.Originally posted by kanzer:i was present at the town centre where they held a welcome home parade for those people that were coming back from timor leste....

and yes they look sloppy..... uniform not iron.......out of size uniforms.....even the boy scouts are neater than them.........maybe one of these days, we should change the five-power defence arrangement to four power........ NZ is becoming a liability...... who knows... one day we might end up defending them!!!!!!!!!
ANZUS treaty is now pretty weak. US is not in the best of relations of NZ cos NZ stopped all nuclear powered and nuclear armed ships from entering their ports and all ships have to declare that they are neither nuclear armed nor powered. The US considers revealing which ships are nuclear powered or nuclear armed an open invitation for their most powerful ships to be sunk first the moment war breaks out. All this largely happened during reagan admin, but NZ-US relation still not good.Originally posted by Joe Black:Well, NZ is actually relying on Aussies to protect them. You are absolutely right to the point about NZ military capabilities. OZs can't believe that they literally are going to be almost defenseless against any intrusion at all. Theoretically, a military force like the size of Singapore Armed Forces would be able to invade NZ at a reasonable cost - provided the logisitc and support is in place. NZ's only practical defense is their distant to the rest of the world.
hmm........not just that but also looking at NZ there really is NOTHING around it haha even to invade it would be a big problem why??you're gonna need big ships.....really big ships to bring everything u needOriginally posted by laser51088:ANZUS treaty is now pretty weak. Supposedly there are some aussies who understand the NZ stand but at least they are smarter and see the relations with US as more important then declaring themselves nuclear free.
Abt NZ being invaded. . .
I doubt the Aussies can watch NZ being invaded without doing anything. NZ has little strategic purpose other than as a stepping stone from which one can invade Australia. So the next logical step after an invasion of NZ is an invasion of Australia, meaning the Aussies would be rather dumb not to defend NZ.
my two cents
