tell that to burt rutan, tell that to FAA, your knowledge of flight simulators are only limited to your dreams, you think the rsaf dog fight simulator very facy full? it can simulate emergencies? u think that thing can have the a-4, f-5 and f-16 avionics all at the same time. u think the f-5 simulator can fully simulate a dog fight? u think the st simulator can simulate a dog fight with 360 degree view. u ever went into the superpuma simulator and they play that bungee jump simulation from raffles city. u think a real superpuma can do that? there are alot of simulators out there. each has a different job. there is no all in one simulator. some simulators are used to train what pilots call, motor skills, things like emergencies which straight away the pilot can react to it. some are used to train knowledge skills like IF/NAV, where u need to use the working memory. the FAA approved simulator is used for training Instrument flights in a full motion enviroment not a pc. if u think simulators are for seasoned pilots, you are wrong again. trainees also go thru simulators. so do they need such facy things like enemy? debrief is a software feature, what makes u think that its not in a x-plane? ms flight sim also have debrief.
just like u said the difference between a real car and grand prix, no simulator can fully simulate flying. I never touch simulators when i learn flying cos no simulator can simulate the dynamic enviroment you find when you are flying. the instructor can throw things at you in a simulator but can he set the enviroment as unpredictable as mother nature?
