Women in combat roles within SAF

just wondering arh, are there any women holding combat positions within the SAF? if so, do they lead their men into battle?

as far as i know women r not eligible 4 combat but they may b eligible 4 combat support

In peace time they can afford to appoint women to be combat officers. I'm no MCP but seriously i find putting women on the frontlines is a unneccessary distraction and will only tear up the unity of whatever platoon, company a woman is put in.
Unless of course, the woman in question is tough as nails. But what are the chances of that? -

A female guards officer? A "guardswoman"? What kind of guards conversion course is she attending? Yea it was me.
In the field, it is distracting when you have to make different "provisions" for female troops, especially when you have to work with them on the same operation. How could a commanding officer get respect when he has to constantly make special arrangements?
Yea, some women can be tough as nails. But the majority can't, it's just not in their nature. Try throwing them in the frontlines and see what happens. Sure they can function in support roles like armor, artillery and engineer but in the infantry meat grinder like men? Hah! -

its not exactly special arrangements.. more of necessary ones cos they r female. and as far as i noe, all the lady offr oso veri zi dong and dun ask for too much, and all their men respect them for their professionalism and fighting spirit, esp coming from a female. o cos i think most gals wud agree they wud not be tuff enuff like those gals who sign on, but there realli are some exceptional ones. we cant really say until the time comes. mabbe at tt time, they will rise up to the challenge? o cos we wud surely hope they wil rite, esp now tt more and more of them are in saf? and understanding their increasingly important role they surely understand the pressure on them to do tt as well!Originally posted by Stevenson101:How could a commanding officer get respect when he has to constantly make special arrangements?

In Sri Lanka, the Tamil Women guerilla fighters of the Tamil Tigers have proven that women can serve in combat.
They are as determined and dedicated as their male counterpart, and will instill courage in any weak men in the face of crisis.
Pity them when they fall into the hands of the opposition, especially when they are babaric in their personality. -
Basically I don;t care about the gneder of the warrior, it's the quality that matters...
So we should not be discriminate or sterotype by gender, but ALSO, importantly, we should not have double standards by gender to cater more to a group or to meet quotas... because in the end you will just end up with inferior quality troops that will get themselves killed in battle.
Hence, I feel both male and female should be at the same level of physical and mental competence, because if you send a double-standard produced warrior to the field, you are just getting second rate tools for first rate jobs... and that's just gonna fill bodybags.
While the feminists here don't cry for women to do NS, in the US, they want the army to meet gender quotas, and absurbly, the US armed forces actually lowered physical requirements for the same position! Aye, the looks like trouble... -
well...just got news from two sources including one from the rsaf that singapore's first female F16 pilot has graduated and is coming back to sg to fly.

I read a few years ago in the new paper about the singapore ranger course. if i recall correctly...it reported that 6 out of 10 trainees pass the course...
what's happening to the army i wonder...
