If I am not wrong the Super Puma can lift 22 troopers. the UH1H - 12 and the UH60 can lift 14.
How many troops can the Chinook lift? -

it can carry 13,000kg while the NH90 carries 9,000kg
The EC725 cougar(Super puma base frame i think) carries 5,700kg
While the UH-60 carries some 5,000kg -

IMHO the super Lynx makes a good companion for our new frigates and LSTs.. and it only require a 2 men crew as compare to the 4 men crew in the SH-60B, 60F or 60R -
i think we opt out of the super lynx is because...
1.... we dont want to be accused of violating malaysian airspace.. when malaysian thought any lynx chopper above johor as from RSAF...
2.... we dont want our SADA to have difficulty in determining which chopper belong to us... and which belong to them... else.. sekali shot down our own chopper... then not so nice hor?
3.... we wanna make sure all foreign arms sellers to take note... they sell to malaysia.. they can kiss goodbye to singapore market (which is bigger) as well....
4.... i can see the super lynx manufacturing boss having a heart attack if he realise that getting malaysia's 12 chopper contract cost him the other contract of 60 lynx...

While SAF is reputed to be a tough nut when it comes to dealing with vendors and contractors for big ticket items (always squeezing here and there) ...it always pays hard cold cash in the end.
Most arms deals in certain countries north and south are almost always done thru' fat cat individual middlemen (with ties to the ruling party) who collect fat commissions in the end..Military contractors, especially those with more established ties with SAF, can mostly deal directly with the 'owner' over here. Only suppliers without local mktg office can opt to go thru' unicorn international... -
While the saf may be a good marketing reference, companies being bottom-line oriented will usually go for any opportunities that arise. Especially if an easy way out can be taken when some fat cat middlemen present themselves to the companies. These are individuals who purport to have 'important connections' that can actually help close the deal real fast.
