i've watched it and i think its war scenes and the shooting and fighting scenes are usually pretty real, and you actually see alot of japs AND marines die, rather than just watching some hero walk through thousands of bullets. ..Originally posted by Stevenson101:How does windtalkers rate as a war movie?
pearl harbour is a lousy representation of what happened. . . more a love story than anything else. . . din't like it as a war movie . . . prob cos it barely qualifies as one. . .Originally posted by CenturionMBT:Tora Tora Tora. 50 times better than pearl harbour i would say it is a documentary cum movie.
The longest day graphics not so good, but it is more accurate than saving private ryan
Patton Best war movie i have watched so far very close to facts
Agree, but i have some question abt the longest day,abt the landing at the beach,(forgot wat his name was but he was the president's son?thats a fact?)or just story wise?Originally posted by laser51088:pearl harbour is a lousy representation of what happened. . . more a love story than anything else. . . din't like it as a war movie . . . prob cos it barely qualifies as one. . .
my opinions. . . feel free to disagree. . .
It was true.....the best part about the longest day was alot of the actors in it were actual ww2 vets.heck i think it was all!!!Due to the fact the show was made a few years after the war only!Originally posted by Xicq:Agree, but i have some question abt the longest day,abt the landing at the beach,(forgot wat his name was but he was the president's son?thats a fact?)or just story wise?

It was about Singapore suddenly mobilising everything it has under 48 hrs like was going for war.
In the end, anti climax... it was only an exercise

Pity that us locals get only a whiff of such films during film festivals...or maybe some late-night slot at 'arts central'Originally posted by Viper52:Forgot one very good one, called Dark Blue World. Czech production, about the plight of Czech pilots who escaped Nazi occupation and fought against the Nazis with the RAF in WWII but villified and jailed by the communists on their return home. Excellent flying scenes, great plot, script and directing. Among the finest war movies I've seen.
Saw the movie at a art-house cinema in Melbourne last year, have to look or special order the DVD in Singapore, but well worth the effort. Highly recommended
I was lucky, I knew about the show, but didn't know that it was already screening in 2 art-house cinemas in all of Melbourne until someone mentioned it to another while I was at the local hobby shop!Originally posted by IAF:Pity that us locals get only a whiff of such films during film festivals...or maybe some late-night slot at 'arts central'
