[bTell you the truth, I've seen subs sailing to and fro from the Sembawang shipyard[/b]
If its from S'wang then it would be the USN, RN or RAN's subs. I've seen Los Angeles class and Collins class in S'wang beforeOriginally posted by IAF:you mean the challengers? when, as in how often?

Yes, I've observed at least on 5 occassions subs sailing on this narrow straits back in 2000/1. Few times saw what looks like RSN's Conqueror and rest mix of much bigger ones like LA class ?Originally posted by Viper52:If its from S'wang then it would be the USN, RN or RAN's subs. But after opening of Changi NB and the terror threat, naval activity on along the strait seems to be much reduced.
Maybe that's why RSN got its own Nimitz-size dry dock at Changi.
It's huge... but owned by the US Navy...Originally posted by duotiga83:i want to see aircraft carriersbeen hearing ppl saying is super duper huge.....

When the carrier berths in their own homeport (Norfolk San Diego or Bremerton) their aircraft do land at their repsective land Naval Air Stations. But when the carrier makes so-called liberty calls to ports like Singapore, their air wing stays on board the carrier.Originally posted by kopiosatu:It's huge... but owned by the US Navy...
F-14s also owned by the US Navy.
I heard when the carrier docks, and the f-14s just come streaming in onto the landing strip on ground, its real cool
Seen carriers before...but usually they do not dock......once in a while they do...but usually they just transit...Originally posted by Viper52:When the carrier berths in their own homeport (Norfolk San Diego or Bremerton) their aircraft do land at their repsective land Naval Air Stations. Duotiga, you can visit carriers in Singapore, but unfortunately you need to know the right doors to knock on...

so much radiation and microwaves is going to cook everyone on board?
'Cos they don't walk everywhere like the visitors mah. And some areas should be restricted to the sailors.Originally posted by wd1:i went too.. i agree it is BIG!! wonder how come the sailors dont get lost inside[/quote]

The radiation is certainly powerful enough. But the radar waves are not directed inside the ship, and there are inbuilt systems to prevent accidental exposure to crews inside the ship.Originally posted by the Bear:so, every member of the crew is going to die from horrific cancers?

Yeah. Think I remember hearing about this one too. Originally think it was mainly humuor. Until I realized that it might not really be joke after all, especially since it was the Russians whom had really built that machine.Originally posted by Viper52:Theres also an ancedote I've read that the MiG-25 radar, when turned on while the aircraft was on the runway, has been known to kill rabbits on the grass verge!
probably read that account from viktor belenko...the mig-25 pilot who defected in the 70s.Originally posted by [ Neo ]:Yeah. Think I remember hearing about this one too.
