I suggest we stick to the topic at hand. Since we are talking about the light tank replacements, can we talk about the possible configuration of the new replacement, or the possible use of the Terrex for operations in the Singaporean context?

Whether or not the Merkava is in SAF service is something that should not be discussed on an open forum.
As a tankee, you should know that.
All you (and I) need to know is that Singapore does have an MBT in service other than the centurion. However, it is the sort that will never be revealed publicly, even as an open secret. And if you want to remain happy and free never go around asking what it is.
EDIT: I am not implying anything either. So nobody get any wild ideas all rite? -
BTW have anyone seen the new bx wif 75mm or 105mm main gun? i never seen 1 b4 but some fren for my unit saw it b4. they are being tested but dunno successful or not.

I reckon this would be revealed to public anytime soon, so its less likely to be a security concern, unlike whatever MBT we've got. -

I heard that the light tank version of Bionix is not very successful so far as the 105mm gun is too powerful for the BX chasis. Anyone can verify this?

i have heard some rumour of unsuccesses but that was ard 1.5 yrs ago. now i dunno the how success the development is. mayb successful mayb not.

I personally feel the the BX is a very capable vehicle, the only problem is that it is a bit on the heavy side and needs quite a lot of preparations before conducting river-crossing operations as compared to the M113, that it is mean to replace. I feel that the BX chasis is a bit to high! Such a high profile when mounted with a 105mm gun will present quite a big target to the enemy. Unless the ST people modify this,otherwise i don't think the BX is very suitable as a platform for the new 105mm tank.

I remembered reading an article that reported the BIONIX offered to the US was a specially redesigned unit to accomodate the bigger body size Americans, with suspension totally reconfigured to allow entry into the Heavy Lift Aircraft. -

The version offered to the US was lighter - it had most of its passive aplique armour removed. The turret was replaced by an overhead remote weapons station. That is why it looked different. Yes the BX already looks very impressive "naked", additional armour plating(maybe reactive armour?) can be further added to the hull. Must be damm heavy! Because the combat weight of the normal BX is already heavier than that of the SM1!

After such a long time, i'm beginning to wonder the 105mm BX was a joke in the first place or not. Perhaps ST is already designing a new chassis for a new light tank... we can't always base every damn vehicle on the BX design rite?
Here's a suggestion for a Sg made tank-hunter. IF one really wants to use a BX chassis heres n idea.
BX with a 40mm turret. Coupled with 4 SPIKEs for tank killing. 40mm to support infantry, deal with light vehicles, bunkers etc. If they can come up with an auto-spike-reloader system that can automatically reload the expended spikes, even better. Redesign our spikes with a tandem warhead arrangement, and it ought to beat any reactive armored tank. EVEN though spike attacks from the top.
throw in a data link, and our SPIKE-BX can even play tag-team with our Apaches. -
I think Shotguns idea is not bad, but it will boil down to the tank round verus anti-tank missile debate. A normal tank's main gun will almost definitely enable it to fire a greater variety of ammunitions at a much lower cost.Missiles such as the Spike is very accurate but complicated,costly and numerically limited(Shotgun's idea is for 4 missiles,the US M2 Bradley only carries 2.) But i think this problem can be lessen when the ABG cooperate with the new Longbow Apaches.
