The vehicle is only at the first prototype stage. There's a long way to go. I once read about changes around the driver's area, but I can't find the link anymore. The deal with Turkey will see the second prototype.Originally posted by tankee1981:Interesting variants coming our way, but was wondering why SAF have not adopt it yet since it is so new and capable.![]()

I cant help but laugh at this.....hehe call it sick sense of humor but if we do sell it to the Turks and the Malaysian who are currently buying turkish APC's......we might end up selling them our stuffOriginally posted by bcoy:From the Straits Times

S'pore, Turkish firms in vehicle project
A SINGAPORE company has teamed up with a Turkish automaker to develop and market two armoured vehicles for Turkey's armed forces.
Singapore Technologies Kinetics, part of listed ST Engineering company, and Otokar have agreed to work together and will sign two cooperation agreements today at a defence, aerospace and maritime show in Ankara, Turkey.
The companies will collaborate on the design and manufacture of the second Terrex 8x8 vehicle prototype. The first prototype, developed solely by ST Kinetics, can carry up to 11 tonnes while providing full nuclear, biological and chemical protection.
Like its predecessor, the second Terrex will be able to withstand rough terrain and harsh climatic conditions. It will be called the Yavuz, the name of an Ottoman sultan, and is scheduled to be handed over to the Turkish land forces for trials next year.
Otokar will also help ST Kinetics market the Bronco All-Terrain Tracked Vehicle, which will be known as the Sakarya in Turkish. It is being used by the Singapore Armed Forces. Said Otokar general manager Kudret Onen: 'Otokar's experience in the design and production of armoured vehicles with state-of-the-art equipment and ST Kinetics' know-how will make the Yavuz and Sakarya very successful projects.'
Why should they care as long as they are not buying directly from ST Kinetics. They might quietly acquire spare parts directly from ST though.Originally posted by |-|05|:I cant help but laugh at this.....hehe call it sick sense of humor but if we do sell it to the Turks and the Malaysian who are currently buying turkish APC's......we might end up selling them our stuffi wonder how they gonna live with that
Why? hehe well they always claim it's the best blah blah so if they get APC's designed by us what are they going to say? It's the best?Originally posted by Joe Black:Why should they care as long as they are not buying directly from ST Kinetics. Furthermore, they can always go to the Koreans instead of the Turks. ST Kinetics might/could also have a clause somewhere to say that they have the rights to block any sales just like what the Americans do to the Israelis.
Not sure about the version used by the airforce.Originally posted by foxtrout8:Hey , they change the turret of the gun right?? I saw it in PLAB , if im not wrong , the triangular enlonged piece is the gun right??
32 SIB ? One of the old guards?Originally posted by bcoy:and I'm one of the guys that ride around in your unit's vehicles. But I don't think we'll be doing that anymore - only 2 day type ICTs remaining - ROD soon I hope.

Yes - one of the "old" guards.Originally posted by Paladin:32 SIB ? One of the old guards?
I tink there are engine exhausts since the ST sales pitch never talk abt having water jets propulsion.Originally posted by stormy:
is that big nozzle at the rear the water jet outlet.![]()
Those are water propulsion units - everyone knows that. The vehicle was on display at the Asian Aerospace.Originally posted by gary1910:I tink there are engine exhausts since the ST sales pitch never talk abt having water jets propulsion.
But to think abt it, ST should develop them wif water jets propulsion , with variants of 120mm gun turret tank destroyer versions, 25mm gun turret AFV version , the 120mm mortar version & even Igla/RBS70 version to complement the AMX-90s for our Amphi Bde.
Yuppers. If u stick your head in there, u will see the propellers.Originally posted by bcoy:Those are water propulsion units - everyone knows that. The vehicle was on display at the Asian Aerospace.
Yups. It is assumed that a water-jet kind of setup would take up too much space, since u would need a hole big enough to provide an intake, and u would have to have a contraption to squeeze out the water which would basically be too big as it would intrude into the space required for the space for the troops. On top of that, the shape of the APC is not exactly efficient in water, which means water jets would be a bit of an overkill anyway. Propellers would seem to be a logical choice. Besides, u'd be surprised how much thrust u can get out of two small props. :-)Originally posted by tankee1981:You mean they are propellers and not water jets?![]()
Those are propellers drives. The propellers are hidden inside the "tube" casing. Most wheeled LAVs have similar propellers now.Originally posted by tankee1981:I thought those where water jets as they don't look like propellers from the pictures.![]()
