If China does invade and remove the DPRK regime and pledge to stop at the 38th Parallel, it would be an extremely wise move on its part. The position of "forward deploying" US troops on the Korean Peninsula and Japan would be untenable, with the removal of the last main remaining threat faced by these 2 US allies. At the same time, if done correctly, it would enhance China's reputation as a responsible member of the Asian, and world community.Originally posted by want to know:Forgive me if it sound stupid but in a Pro-China board that i have visited. There is a topic like this "What happen if China invade North Korea?" Some rather extreme poster said that if China really invade North Korea. North Korea should be part of China. May be a North Korea SAR. Like HongKong and Tibet.
Well but the possibility of this happening is very low.

i don't like either of the lea-duhs of the 2 countries.. should just put them in a steel cage and let them settle it that way
Better the devil you know (China) than the devil you don't. Also the fact that the devil we know in this case has more to lose than the devil we don't...Originally posted by the Bear:i don't like either of the lea-duhs of the 2 countries
You are right. DPRK ain't Iraq. Knowing the nutcase running DPRK, he's a guy on a fast runaway train...Such a development can only make him more paranoid and up the ante, if only to keep potential internal foes busy and occupied.Originally posted by Shotgun:Military action against DPRK is gonna be VERY risky. If they indeed have WMD, (unlike Iraq, who didn't actually have operational ones), what is stopping this regime from using it? Whether against China or the South, or even Japan?
If it indeed boils down to a forced disarmament and, my favorite word, regime change, I hope the US has their THAAD systems ready. Cos, the moment any military action kicks off, the gloves are off for DPRK.
However, I doubt that China intends to invade with 150,000 troops. China doesn't have the best equipped army in the world, and their 150,000 is not enough to conduct any offensive action. Given the relatively small number, I would guess the purpose to be border security and "wayang" only.

Japan's Defence Minister has stressed his country's right to strike North Korean missile sites if an attack is thought imminent.
Well since more then 80% of the korean food is donated by ROK and China and Japan those 3 could just as easily starve them into submission.Even in a protracted war the North would lose out as they would run out of supplies like oil, food and metals.Originally posted by IAF:You are right. China would need like at least half a million, given its backwardness to do like what it did to Vietnam in 1979...even that at a great cost. Perhaps it should take a leaf out of Sunzi and try to defeat the regime without firing a shot...like stirring an internal revolt

And the Coral sea exersise is seen as a provocation due to the fact that it is anti smuggling exersise of some sorts that is indirectly aimed at North Korea's weapons trade which is where it gets some 70+++% of it's income!

Not so easy.. i think. DPRK is a past master at extortion and blackmail. Policy makers in neighbouring countries are loathe to push the fat bastard into the corner and trigger a doomsday scenario. Who knows what he'll do in order to bring everyone down with him?Originally posted by |-|05|:Well since more then 80% of the korean food is donated by ROK and China and Japan those 3 could just as easily starve them into submission.Even in a protracted war the North would lose out as they would run out of supplies like oil, food and metals.

The only way is for a coup detat or internal revolt to happen. And when the timing is right, the Chinese can offer him and his family a choice to go into exile in inner mongolia, where the horsemen will lop off his head and play polo with it![]()
