  I was a signaller in an infantry brigade and we wore green berets like everyone else in the unit. Most of my platoon mates from SoS went to an armour brigade and when I saw them, they had black berets.

  hm.. this is confusing. i cant figure this out too. but i haf a fren who went SOS and after passing out became the BSO of an inf unit. he went on wearing his blue beret regardless.

  Depends on the estab, if BMT-SOS come out as BSO into SP Platoon, then blue beret.
  
  Armour formation all BLACK as far as I know.
  
  Other formation - get to wear formation color is go through conversion course.

  i would imagine anyone who bmt-sos-watever will be signal by vocation and hence wear blue regardless of where he goes.

  Know this for sure - if send by unit, go back to unit with whatever color beret. BMT-SAFINCOS or OCS-SOS, then Blue Beret. (NSF)
  But, my platoon mate who went BMT-SOS-Armour wears a Black one. ???
