i think is a hard fight........i think is either Tyhpoon vs F-15 or F-15 vs RafaleOriginally posted by kopiosatu:next year then the decision...
but i'm thinking they'll get the typhoon
well the typhoon already has a large customer base meaning no matter what parts will still be cheaper while the rafale is still an unknown.....Originally posted by duotiga83:well...being 1st customer doesn't mean it will be only 1st customer....things do change man.......only time tells....
only question is........in tranche 2 we'll be choosing in regards to air-to-ground weapons.......in upgrading both typhoon and rafale is the same in terms of radar(AMSAR)Originally posted by |-|05|:well the typhoon already has a large customer base meaning no matter what parts will still be cheaper while the rafale is still an unknown.....
Well only good thing i see coming out of the rafale is that we'd get involved in the designing of the exports's electronic package...Originally posted by duotiga83:only question is........in tranche 2 we'll be choosing in regards to air-to-ground weapons.......in upgrading both typhoon and rafale is the same in terms of radar(AMSAR)

can ans for u some...Originally posted by KiloClass:Is the Eurofighter more to be an air superiority aircraft or air-to-ground attack aircraft ? ... What about the F-15s and Rafaels ? .... How does an aircraft system detect whether a ground , air or sea unit are friendlies or enemies ?
From what i understand, no info available on this as yet, tho decision is expected soon, possibly by end of this year... or they may wait till AA2004, perhaps?Originally posted by KiloClass:So , did the Singapore govt. state which kind of Eurofighter that it wants to acquire ? . For the recognition of friendly and foe , does that mean that in every vehicle ( e.g Tanks and APCs ) , there is some kind of electronic signature which is given off ? . Last question , sorry cos this is off the topic , but can anybody state the RSN's selection for the helicopters for the new La Fayette frigates ?
They most prob offered some source code to advance systems so that we can upgrade both the F-16 and F-15Originally posted by Orcishwarrior:Was wondering what about those ammunition and missiles. At least i know that the UK has offered Meteor Bvraam and Apache.Rafale - Storm shadow & mica (i suppose).I m still
quite puzzled did united state offers us any Sophisticated weapon system in their package of course ruling out Aim-120 Amraam.Probably some stand-off missiles will be ideal.

We tried getting the penguin for the F16. We failed. IIRC Swedish Parliament blocked it.Originally posted by eurofighter:I will put mine on the NH-90. ASuW missiles in the package will probably be the polyghem or the penguin. I think even if we get the Seahawk, we will get the penguin. The hellfire is just too short-ranged and packs less punch.
Penguin is a Norwegian missile. I don't know why we didn't get it in the end, but it was not because someone's parliament vetoed it.Originally posted by touchstone_2000:We tried getting the penguin for the F16. We failed. IIRC Swedish Parliament blocked it.
Not true. We have at least 2 recorded purchases of air-launched Harpoons on a public list of US DoD contracts. Fokker PR pics show the yet-to-be-delivered (at the time when the pics were taken) MPAs carrying dummy Harpoons. There are other Harpoon-capable types, but I won't/can't say which types. (even though it does not need a genius to figure out).
We have a airforce without anti-ship capability. Missile speaking.
In the changi air base heritage video, which they show to visitors, there's a segment on an MPA firing a harpoon. Heck, if a turboprop can do it...i don't see why our fast-movers can'tOriginally posted by Viper52:Not true.
