This is one of the many benefits of a new defence co-operation agreement which Defense Minister Teo Chee Hean is signing on Monday with his Indian counterpart, George Fernandes.
This is the first time Singapore's Defence Minister has visited India, and there was all the usual pomp and pagentry.
The Defence Agreement paves the way for the armed forces of Singapore and the sub-continent to co-operate in many different areas, including the exchange of personnel and training courses.
It will also promote the sharing of intelligence - vital in the war against terrorism.
On top of this,
Singapore is keen to explore the use of India's training areas, and to expand joint military exercises to include land or air forces.The two countries have already held joint naval exercises for many years. - CNA
