Wonder if the SAF has any more officers in the mould of Major General Tan Huck Gim? Don't think i've seen alot of 'lao chiau' generals since winston choo's departure.

i wonder y normal battle gear don't include an armored vest...but when i saw the show....armored vest are provided...why arghz???

try with FBO or SBO for 20km tactical movement first and assualt on an objective...

We will have our bulletproof vest but thats another type of operation then, err..... oops! say too much liao... -
i watched the english one on channel i
and i think that our army people are very brave to go into iraq for peacekeeping
hope that nothing bad happens

I was just wondering what kind of equipment do SAF combatants use there? I saw them wearing the new SBO that was supposedly on trial by certain units.
Anyway, I had an uncle who went there and it was quite taxing as he had to carry his weapon with him all the time. Think they treat the situation there as ops-time. -

The vest that was worn is simply called the LBV or Load Bearing Vest. It has many pockets for various items. But compared to the SBO, it is rather warm and clearning SOC won't be as comfortable.
The troopers do 2 type of patrols, green and blue. Green for recon stuff and blue is with the blue UN cap, patrolling into the village doing CMA (Civil Military Affairs) stuff i.e. mingling with the locals, getting to know them as well as their concerns and lastly to make your presence felt.
Officers and warrants are issued with the additional Sig Sauer P226 pistols. Since everyone is operating in an operational theater, there is a required to be armed at all times. Weapon will be "actioned" once you leave a defined area.
Everyone is also issued with a body armour to be worn when you are outside a defined area, i.e. POB/COB (platoon/company operating base).

Perhaps the SAF Major General who was the UN peacekeeping CO there should be the next Chief of Army if not the entire SAF. Time to have someone with operational experience at the helm -

It seems that the SBO is not up to par to world conflict. Before the Molle vest, the SAF was issued with the USGI LBV 88. Alice pack was used instead of the normal pack.
They are using modified No.4 with pockets near their shoulder. I'm not sure what type of body armour they are using.
The ADF and NZDF are using the same equipment. The ADF are using US military body armour as there were shortages of it.
There is still no widespread use of the SAR21/Tavor21 in the SAF. -

Is the Sig P226 still attached to the belt by a cord or are they using the Gemtech Tactical Retention Lanyard.

I didn't notice the slanted pockets. Tot it was standard issue No.4. In fact it's the new design compared to the last one.
